15. Kaidan - While he is my least favorite, I in no way dislike him. He just seemed to much like Carth for Kotor and I felt he had done his duty by the time Virmire happened. So I left him with the bomb. He was enjoyable while he lasted but he will not be there in ME3. Rest in Peace Kaidan old friend. P.S: I heard he outranks you on the Normandy in ME3 if he lives. NO ONE OUT RANKS MY SHEPARD!! that's another reason why he's dead.

No....... you don't have any animosity do you? *cynical*
Firstly, he shares the same voice actor and that is the only similarity, imo.... I think you should maybe replay KOTOR without any pre-conceptions :) Carth is gruff and suspicious, Kaidan isn't, Carth gives you a hard time when you try and speak to him, Kaidan doesn't ~ the list of differences is far longer than the list of similarities (but I can't be bothered to bore people with it) honestly..... replay... What has actually happened is that people have been saying it for so long that everyone just thinks it is fact now.. :)

No one outranks your Shepard? Hackett does for one and so do many other (albeit faceless) people in the Alliance military, lol.... there are a slew of folk who can tell Shepard what to do if Shepard is Alliance and if Shepard isn't, then Kaidan doesn't outrank and it doesn't matter... you may be worrying too much about a pretend person here ;) <<<<< JK

Hahaha. Well I've always thought of Kaidan and Carth as one in the same so maybe that's why I think this way. and I just meant I don't want anyone on the Normandy out ranking me. I don't need anyone underminding my authority tho I doubt he actually would say anything against you. He repects Shepard too much. I have a save ready with Kaidan surviving tho. Just the first couple of Saves Ash survived. Kaidan will get his time in ME3 don't you worry. ;) He did seem like he'd be a good friend to my Shep in ME1 so who knows maybe I'll like him more in ME3

What's wrong with ME2 Tali? I found the ME1 version awfully boring whereas she actually got a personality in ME2.

Love:
1) Liara- all time favorite character and only love interest

Bros:
1) Wrex- Krogan Battlemaster, what more is needed
2) Garrus- second in command and fellow sniper
3) Grunt- great fighter and ally

Good Friends:
1) Tali- a little quirky and ackward, but in a good way
2) Miranda- deep character and cleavage
3) Samara- if I could have romanced her, I would have, but not with canon shep
4) Katsumi- liked her voice and character, wish she had more dialouge
5) Ashley- besides her boyish looks, she was cool
6) Jacob- loyal, devoted, great guy to have my back

Eh:
1) Legion- so late in the game, found him pointless to even have
2) Thane- never talked to him, don't care

Want dead and to stay dead:
1) Kaiden- I got nothing to say, put me to sleep everytime I talked to him, plus he was a little feminine, kind of weird
2) Jack- DEAD, hate her looks, voice, everything, dead, dead, dead
3) Zaeed- poser, that's all I can say to a guy that acts tough
4) Mordin- a crackhead on my team seems a little dangerous
5) Morinth- Samara is a million times better

Though I didn't kill anyone on my suicide mission or in ME1, aside from Kaiden, I wish I would have been forced to kill them. I don't have the heart to take an innocent life, no matter how much I hate Jack.

I figured the voice actor was the reason. As far as Jacob is concerned, I think he's a pretty alright character. Like Kaidan he brings a certain amount of level headedness to Shepard's crazy crew

1 & 2 Tie Breaker:

Garrus...Sheps Second in Command...Awesome dialog, awesome bro, awesome squaddie...Love Garrus...
Kasumi...What's not to love....Dialog, personality, appearence...EVERYTHING about her....

3 & 4 Tie Breaker:

Legion....Fascinating, thought provoking dialog...Love the once were enemies angle and his adorable.
Thane...Another though provoking dialog....There's just this air about him.

5 & 6 Tie Breaker:

Kaidan....So sublime and such a nice dude...Thoughtful and level...Would be a dear friend in r/l.
Samara....Interesting dialog, I would love to know more about her....she fascinates me.

7 & 8 Tie Breaker:

Tali...Sweet girl...her romance is very cute...I like the fact also that she doesn't become an LI until ME2, seems more natural to me, attraction building over time, not 'I see, I wants!'.
Zaeed....He sounds like my dad when he laughs, has left me soft on him.

9, 10, 11 & 12 Tiebreaker:

Ash....Can take or leave her....What a cynic, bleh
Jacob...Can take or leave him...What a cynic, bleh...though at least he can be trusted.
Jack...My heart goes out to her, but she is so crass and ruthless.
Mordin....Aggravates me a bit, but that's a personal thing, he just feels so chaotic...Chaos aggravates me.

13 & 14 Tie Breaker:

Liara....Sweet enough in ME1, too sweet actually...Turns ruthless in ME2, one unpleasent extreme to the other.
Morinth...Saved her once for 'Dominance'...she was pretty good combat wise.

15 & 16 Tie Breaker:

Wrex...His a Krogan...blood thristy war monger....don't want him on my ship....tried him out a few times then never took him anywhere again....Do not like his dialog.
Grunt...His a Krogan...blood thirsty war monger....don't want him on my ship....tried him out a few times then never took him anywhere again....Do not like his dialog.

17...Lucky last:

Miranda...Ruthless and completely self absorbed...GET OFF MY SHIP!

Garrus..."You know I hate injustice"....Garrus is trying to do the right thing, he wants to do good for the Galaxy...for ALL...a Batman who kills as such....His heart is in the right place, his just hot headed too.

Thane....Listen closely to his dialogs, both on the Normandy and the battlefield....I may not agree with all his perceptions...the "Dis-Connect...his body is only a tool, etc..."....but I can understand the concept and what he is trying to say.

Samara....Extreme Law enforcement...she is another I don't necessarily agree with (the code), but like Thane, I can understand the concept and what she is trying to say.

Liara and Miranda are in it primarily for themselves, a self absorbed focus...their circle of compassion is very small. and exclusive....and willing to sacrifice the lives of many uninvolved others to forward their agendas....At least Garrus, Thane and Samara care, Miranda and Liara don't.

She was written to be more important than she really is (and should be). A character doesn't need to be a freaking ethnic princess to justify her role in a fictional work. Unfortunately, BioWare decided to go that route with Tali.

Her singular purpose in ME1 was to introduce the quarians, and for some reason she couldn't do it as a regular quarian citizen, but had to be the daughter of one of the admirals. Fine. In ME2, she was used solely for fanservice and to act as a bridge so we have a reason to go to the Migrant Fleet and open up the war-vs-peace issue that will come into play in ME3, as a direct result of the dubious background choice made by BioWare in the first game.

In neither of the games, none of the missions involving her actually involves her other than on a peripheral level. Haestrom? It's actually about dark energy build up in the system's sun, and not her. The trial? It's actually about the quarians political troubles, and not her. In other words, they completely wasted her character trying to justify involvement with the quarians.

Not to mention her romance was appallingly cheesy. Love at first sight, BioWare? Really? It's like the can of pyramids in a "knock-down-the-cans-to-win-a-prize"-carnival game knocking down themselves, involving absolutely zero effort and commitment while reaping all the benefits. Not to mention they had to stretch the established lore around quarian health issues pretty damn thin for it to work, which in my book is one of the worst no-go's there is.

Sorry, I still don't get it.

Liara
The worst thing she does is the execution of five criminals who work for the Shadow Broker (the same SB who worked for the collectors). Why? She wants to save Feron.

Miranda
I guess the control chip. She wants to save the human colonies.

Garrus tortured people to death. Thane killed for money.

-> I prefer Liara's and Miranda's agenda.

When did Garrus torture people to death? the closest thing he's done to torture is beat up Harkin.

Your got me thinking about peoples perspectives on these five NPC's...so I have raised the same question in each of their fan threads...might be interesting to keep an eye on those.

As for Liara....listen to her dialog immediantly after her and Shep kill Vasir up until you cut to the shuttle.

In Garrus's SB Dossier, he mets out the punishment to suit the crime....I can't remeber the exacts....but along the lines of 'A Drug Dealer would die by overdose'.

I guess I'll chime in now:

Great
1. Liara - She saved Shepard's life…Sort of. And she's sweet.
2. Ashley - Love it when a woman speaks her mind.
3. Tali - I love her social awkwardness. Been with Shepard through thick and thin. True friend.
4. Garrus - Another true friend, just hate his calibration obsession.
5. Jack - Just an awesome character. Her attitude is exactly why I like her.
6. Wrex/Grunt - Awesome Krogran

Good
1. Thane - Like his spirituality.
2. Miranda - Comes off as b*tchy at first but I've grown to like her.
3. Kaidan/Jacob - Nothing outstanding about them but nothing wrong with that.

Meh
1. Legion - Not understanding all the hype surrounding him but he's alright.

Not Sure
1. Kasumi - Haven't played her DLC yet.
2. Zaeed - Just don't really have an opinion about him.

ME2 Liara is more ruthless than ME1 Liara, that's true of course.

I just don't understand why she is on the top of your "most ruthless character" list ^_^

I saw those. Only a couple were like that. The rest were mostly headshot by sniper rifle. If he did kill them by the crimes like you say. That just made Garrus cooler in my eyes. That's the renegade Spectre Garrus I trained him to be in ME1:devil: even though I'm paragon.
