I don't want a token gay guy.

And Vega being gay would make him a "token gay guy"...how, exactly?

Because it seems people want him to be gay just to be gay. I don't see why he can't be bi so that both genders can enjoy him.

I'm curious though: if Bioware had written him to be gay from the start, how would you feel?

Great! Because that way BioWare would be introducing a gay character (other than ME Ascension Hendel Mitra) for the first time in the ME universe, and because James seems not to be the stereotypical 'flaming ******'. Breaking stereotypes is the way to go.

Totally fine. I actually have a femShep set for Vega, but if she can't have him, one of my manSheps will do just as easily. ^_^

I just think that it would be nice if everyone could choose the LI they wanted and not be restricted.

Interesting. See, as a gamer, I want everyone to have a shot at their favorite L.I. Like it or not, Bioware has to accept to romances in their games are becoming more and more important. Hence why there are pages and pages of this on BSN. I think all characters being possible L.I.s would be the fairest and most fun option.

...but, as someone who wants story integrity, I'm not so sure. I kind of don't wish to see every character be bisexual. A good amount? Sure. All of them? Not so much. I would prefer a few purely heterosexual and at least one purely homosexual character. It would probably take me out of the experience less, if you know what I mean.

But what if in a s/s playthrough he is written as if he is gay? Not bisexual. Gay. That is perfectly possible and would still retain story integrity. It's irrelevant that in an o/s playthrough he is straight or, subversively, actually bisexual.

I think I know what you mean. But with resources for BW being finite, I think it's just easier for them to make everybody available. Like I said earlier, I just want an awesome character. If he's gay/straight/bi, whatever. I'll romance him, if he's even available, as either sex.

I'd be okay with that. Less social impact, but still the same effect for me as a gamer.

I wouldn't mind if he was gay sense he's brand new nothing to retcon no established friendline to take out. But no retcon of past LIs or of Samara and Mordin sense both of these two flat out said no shep I really don't want you/ I won't give in to you.

Apart from marketing issues, I don't see why this could not be done, it would be much more convincing and would add depth to the game and coversation. Anyone agree?

Okay, this somehow implies that being bisexual is cheap and unrealistic.

THANKS, guys.

I understand why people want to have Vega be gay or bi, what I don't understand is this. People's infactuation with a character they know almost NOTHING about.

Why do gay people have more problem with bi characters than straight people? I mean in DA2 there were no straight characters and it was ok. Why should there be only gay characters?

People still complained a lot about the DA2 system.  Personally I don't have much of a problem with it but at times it can seem a bit silly.

Homosexuals have a strain of cooties that is not contagious, but bisexuals have cooties that can be spread just by looking at someone, even if they are mere pixels on a screen.  Such is the power of bi-cooties.

Also, in addition to being cheap and unrealistic, bisexuals are amoral, incapable of fidelity, and must declare their preferred sexual orientation within three minutes of meeting new people, or else they are Badly Written.

I thought I knew what bisexuality was all about, but that was before the BSN let me know what was what.

Nope, I was straight a second ago, then I read what you wrote, now I too am bisexual.  Damn you Cheez!

Most likely. I wouldn't bet all my money on it though. After all, BioWare already did it once with Juhani.

They said they won't do it due to 'resources'.

Just look at the Juhani romance...it had 1/10th of the content that the Bastila and Carth ones had.

What?  Where have you been for the past 7 months?  Most people who complained about the DA2 thing seemed to be whining b/c there was a lack of teh straights.

I guess if you're prone to fret over the sexuality of characters you don't even want to romance...that's definitely not me.  Personally, I have no desire to romance Vega, so he can be hanarsexual for all I care.

Ah yes BSN.

Where Heterosexuals are realistic, Homosexuals are icky and Bisexuals? Ha! We have dismissed that claim.

Er, how?

Most people are either straight or gay, not bisexual, that's how.

Of course there are a lot more straight people, but...There are plenty of bisexuals around, they just either lean towards women or men more. Although as a bisexual/pansexual, you either end up in a straight or homosexual relationship, though you shouldn't disregard the fact that they are infact bisexual/pansexual just because of who they end up with. A lot of people tend to do that...

It would be cool to have a strictly gay character though, considering there are strickly straight romances already and we've seen too many of those.

Cool story bro.

Anyways, while I've argued in the past in the all bisexuals threads for having a mix of the three sexualities, Bioware doesn't appear to regard this as being an economical use of resources. So expect him to be bisexual.

Does Juhani even count as a romance? IIRC there was less content there than with Kelly in ME2.

If Vega is supposed to be new players' window into the world, does that make romancing Vega... romancing noobs? Or do they just watch?

That's a fair point, but in my defense I have a tendency to try my hardest to learn everything I can about each character. I don't exactly fret about the sexualities of the characters per se, but I do care about their general character traits one way or another.

Oh look, this again. We've got the "all of the LIs should be bisexual for fairness" junk, we've even got a bit of that "everybody is secretly bisexual" and "heterocentic bias" BS.

You know what, everybody knows my opinions, so I'm going to throw out there that maybe Vega shouldn't be an LI. Maybe he should just be a soldier interested in doing his job and going home. Because you know, not everything in the galaxy is interested in banging Shepard.

I think a good reason for Vega being bi is that, as mentioned above, he is a character for people new to the series. What if someone new the game wants to romance a character that doesn't come with a lot of history which would just confuse a new player? Will you even be able to romance old LIs in ME3 if you didn't romance them in prior games?
