*rolls eyes*
other than humanity, I'd save:

(if this is from some spoiler thing and the rachni aren't choosable, screw that!)

Asari
Hanar -- but only if they'd drop their worship of the Enkindlers.
Rachni -- they tend to keep to themselves unless disturbed.
Humans are scum, too warmongering. Krogan would be a problem if they adapted to the genophage. Batarians? Nah. Vorcha? Why save pests? Salarians? They were borderline. Turians? Too warlike. Drell? They're dying out. Quarians? Still haven't learned from that screw up with the Geth. Yahg? They're butt ugly and just nasty. Geth? They could just be trouble because you just know organics will want to involve themselves.

I just read the newspaper, and the news articles on the interwebz. Based upon those I'd save:

I notice how you gave every species a bad description other than the Rachni and the Asari. B/c the Asari are saints amirite?

Salarians. Because they're the most capable scientists and I appreciate them.
Between the Asari and Volus, depending on who can help usher a more cohesive galactic economy.

Long Life Spans and High Intelligence.
They would be the perfect choice to rebuild the destroyed worlds.
The geth also have the added bonus of not being mouths to feed.
I've already saved the Rachni so near extinction for the Third time would just be to much. Really hope they are a valuable asset in Mass Effect 3 though.

Salarians. Easily. No brainer..
"If you want a problem shot, ask a Turian. If you want a problem talked about, ask an Asari. If you want to make a problem worse, ask a Salarian. If you want a problem solved, ask a Human.
The actual quote is "When you need a problem shot, ask a Turian. When you need a problem talked to death, ask an Asari. When you need a new problem, ask a Salarian. When you need a problem fixed, ask a Human."
Also, some additional lines that were inexplicably cut from the game:
"When you need to make a problem worse, ask a quarian."
"When you need a problem exploited for profit, ask a volus."
"When you need a problem prayed for, ask a hanar."
"When you need a problem enslaved, ask a batarian."
"When you need a problem mindlessly tackled with brute force, ask a krogan."
"When you need a problem ignored, ask a drell."
"When you need a problem reviewed and reconsidered ad infinitum, ask an elcor."
"When you need a problem voted for, ask a geth."
"When you need a problem screeched at, ask a vorcha."
"When you need the solution to a problem to fail miserably, ask Cerberus."
"When you need a problem slept with, ask Kelly."
"When you need a problem calibrated, ask Garrus."
"When you need a problem with heavy risk but a priiize, ask Jacob."
"When you need a problem snarked at, ask Joker."
"When you need a problem punched in the face, ask Captain Anderson."
"When you need a problem blown up, ask me."

Where's that quote from?
It's from a secondary quest in ME2 you can get be4 (or after) completing Garrus' loyalty quest. When you enter the citaldel pass c-sec and reach for the stairs to the lower floors. Right next to them there are two asari sitting in a couch, talking to them will trigger the quest, and the awesome speech.
*Edit* Forgot add the species I'd save, which are Salarians and Rachni. I love those little buggers.

Not a easy choice but these seem the most capable and diplomatic of all species, imo.
Elcor, Hanar/Drell (you save the Hanar you save the Drell) and Turians would be next on the list. turians are great but humanity are just as good (even with a much smaller military) whilst being more diplomatic, thats why Turians didn't get in my top three.

Quarians (Because they produce women with sexy hips) or Batarians (Because the hating they get makes me like them more)

Quarians exist, and to be honest, they deserved their fate by attacking a peaceful race. Asari need to be knocked off their high horse. 1000 years of life and all they do with it is **** around and do mercenary work. Batarians... lol.

Salarians. Easily. No brainer. They are probably the most similar to humanity in every way that isn't physical appearance. Both our races are ambitious and curious and high tech. Our military tactics don't rely on brute force, like the majority of other races.
The second? Tough one. Krogan deserve better, but would become a problem. Only 17 million Quarians exist, and to be honest, they deserved their fate by attacking a peaceful race. Asari need to be knocked off their high horse. 1000 years of life and all they do with it is **** around and do mercenary work. Batarians... lol.
Why is it ok for a salarian or turian to do mercenary work, but not for an asari?
