Hi.  Tonight I'm rolling up a Ranger for a multi-player runthrough of IWD.  We're starting at level 1 and we will finish around level 10.  I haven't rolled up a Ranger/archer before.   ECL +2 seems to brutal (not a good idea).   I tend to stick to melee, but "spellcasting prodigy" looks helpful.  A level of SD may be nice around level 8.  Any thoughts or links to a good ranger on nwn2db.com?

Thanks in advance

Spellcasting Prodigy is only good for dedicated casters, not for rangers.

There are several things you can do, this is a fairly simple and good low level ranger/AA.

Thanks for the quick reply.  The ranger you've suggested looks darn good. Good at melee with AA for support.  I looked into seeing how to work in "zen archer", but couldn't figure out how to best build it.  I took a fantastic ranger/duel weilder through SOZ.

Kind of what I thought about spellcasting prodigy, especially since I won't be taking him to epic.  With so few levels, I can't spend the time to make him really good at spells.  The rest of the party is well balanced (Sor, Ro, FS, and Fighter), so my PC is a "5th wheel" and I don't need to be great at spells.

I like Corwin's ranger and will most likely go with that.  NIce and simple.

You can make a caster/archer with Zen, but ranger isn't a good class for that (plus, DEX gives you AC while WIS doesn't). Druid or cleric can work as Zens, or EK, but if you want to go mostly ranger, you won't be much of a caster. Or you can go ranger-heavy with a better animal companion... there are many things you can do with 10 levels.

You could try something like this. Not a ranger, but you can modify it to make it a zen/caster or something. I've posted a bunch of low level builds in the database, but I don't remember if I have something like what you request. You can take a look if you want, you may get some ideas.

It's not ranger, but Kaedrin's Scout class (which is thematically similar, but less nature-y) should make an excellent arcane archer. Level 5 scout gives 2d6 sneak damage. :-)

Points well taken. Turns out, I wasn't able to party up tonight, so, I will roll him up and jump into the frozen lands next week. I don't think Kaedrin's is being used, but I'll find out.

Thanks :)
