I installed the component "Maximum HP on level up" from the tweakpack onto my BGtutu game, thinking it would just mean I would get to play core rules and not have to bring the slider down for each level up.
I'm just wondering if that particular component does something unusual after using the Manual of Bodily Health. Raising my CON from 18 to 19, the +4 HP was raised to +5, as it should, but it seemed my (warrior) character gained all extra points retroactively for his previous levels too, very much like the toughness feat in NWN.
So instead of the 15 HP I was supposed to get, my character (raising his CON just before levelling to lvl 5) received 19 HP.
Just wondering if anyone can confirm my suspicion.

Yep, when you raise your constitution you gain all your previous hit points as if you'd had that constitution since level 1.
Eldoth for example has 15 constitution, if you were to give him the tome at level 6 his hit points would go from 42 to 48.

This has nothing to do with the tweakpack. You get the HP bonus retroactively even in the vanilla game (and that's the only reason why con bonuses in SoA and ToB make sense).
BTW: The component is bugged when used with Barbarians.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but I am unsure as to which folder to install the "Max HP Mod" within. Is within the Baldur's Gate folder suffice (Local Disc > My Games > Baldur's Gate) or do I need to select a sub-folder, such as 'Override' for example?

Just in the main folder. Note that before you install this mod you should have Weidu available in the folder. This quote:
"If you're going to mod, you should get a WeiDU.exe in your game directory. A common mistake in this regard is to think you need to install the WeiDU.exe somehow, when in fact all you need to do is extract it. This means you download it, extract it from the .rar (or .zip) file it comes in, and place it in the game directory. And that's it. It will take matters from there by itself, creating a log as soon as the first mod is installed. WeiDU can be obtained here, scrolling down to the line stating "Download the 'Weimer' Dialogue Utilities" after the link."
is taken from a thread with a lot more information about mods if you're interested.

To respond to my own question. Extract the files to the 'Override' folder. I received my first level up and was granted three hit points as opposed to seven. I then cut and paste the files from my main folder to the override and viola, seven hit points as standard. The magic number is seven as I rolled a Thief with 15 CON.

It seems that I have probably made the same mistake as you. I installed into the Tutu directory.
Which files need to be cut and pasted into override?

If this mod requires putting files directly into the Override folder Wise then it will not be a Weidu mod. Given all the other mods you have installed I would suggest not mixing in a different variety as well. You can get the max HP on level up functionality from the tweakpack as mentioned at the start of this thread (though it doesn't work properly with barbarians).

I think that all my mods are weidu, so there may not be a problem. Thanks for the reply.

If your mod is weidu then you should execute the weidu.exe and "install" the mod, rather than touching the override folder yourself. Otherwise you're skipping out on the weidu bit.
