He didn't. just said that those 2 characters can be either alive or dead but didn't elaborate.jreezy wrote...
If Grunt stays in the tank I believe he's treated as dead. Mike Gamble said something to that effect in a Gamescom Q&A.

I'm trying to create an epic fail-through and i've made all the wrong decisions based on Ecael's Walkthrough and Mesina2's aswell (and some of my own personal choices) but I really don't know what to do for these two decisions.
On one hand if i get them killed in ME2 SM, their gone forever but it would be interesting to see how not opening Grunt will be handled in ME3. Also how giving Cerberus Legion might effect how the game is played. Maybe special Cerberus Geth that only follow them.
I managed to workout getting Morinth and Kasumi as the only survivors, without having Legion and Grunt using the Suicide Mission Survival Calculator.
To be honest i might just not have them as team mates but i would like to know what anyone else would do in my situation? I might even change my mind and let them live.
If anyone is interested this is my suicide mission setup
Loyal: Morinth,Garrus, Mordin, Jacob, Jack, and Kasumi
Non Loyal: Tali(gave evidence to fleet on mission), Miranda, and Thane
Never Recruited: Grunt and Legion obviously, and will kill Zaeed after SM.
Tech Specialist:Jacob
Fire-team Leader 1: Morinth
Biotic Specialist: Miranda (must be non-loyal i guess)
Fireteam Leader 2: Mordin
No Escort meaning crew and chawkwas dies
Team during Biotic Field/Seeker Swarm Part: Kasumi and Garrus (im not 100% sure why Garrus supposidly dies and not Kasumi even if he was loyal but eh)
Final Squadmates at Boss: Kasumi and Miranda(dies because non-loyal)
In the End i should only have Kasumi and Morinth as survivors with Grunt never opened and Legion sold to Cerberus
Thats going to be an "interesting" ME3 import if you ask me.
Currently im working on this one:
Loyal:Morinth, Garrus,Mordin,Jacob,jack,Kasumi,Thane
Unloyal:Miranda,Tali (gave the data) Zaead dead after SM
Dont upgrade Weapon: Thane dies
Dont upgrade Shield: Kasumi dies since legion isnt activated
Dont upgrade Armor (i think its the name):Jack dies
Tech: Jacob
Fire team 1: Morinth
Biotic; Miranda(unloyal)
Fire team 2 Mordin
Or Kasumi if Mordin is unloyal
"Hold the line team": Zaead and Tali - Zaead lives
Note: Zaead is the only to survive even if you have Tali and Mordin unloyal
Escort : Garrus and Morinth - Garrus dies
Last boss: Miranda and Morinth Miranda dies
So Morinth only Zaead(kill him after) and grunt and legion never activated.
Too bad you can save after having "sex" with Morinth would be an awesome ending.
Joker: TiM we have a problem.
TiM: Whats up?
Joker: Shep dead.
TiM: How?
Joker: He couldnt keep his pants.
Note: you can have 1 person to live on your playthrough as long Zaead lives(killing him after) and you bring the other to the boss
I would Love to try that set-up out but im not 100% sure when an import is created im ME2, is it right when the SM ends or does any save work including those after said SM.
Plus the only reason i wanted Kasumi alive is because of her Greybox to mess up the alliance but your setup sounds very very tempting and i might just try yours

Remember how you could play me1 without garrus, and somehow he and shep "remain" buddies in me2? Yeah, don't get your hopes up.
Hohoho.
lol i played ME1 without Garrus. It was grueling but i did it for the sake on my fail through

I don't know about Grunt, but selling Legion should be HUGE. After all, if Legion is sold, who will stop the Heretics from releasing the virus and forcing ALL Geth to serve the Reapers?
That could possibly lose you the war right there.
Not to mention cerberus possibly developing geth tech for themselves <.<

I'm glad to hear this little bit of info, and i hope its not like how garrus was handled because i didn't recruit Garrus in ME1 and was dissapointed at the incredibly small variation it made in ME2.
All that happened was a slightly different meeting with Archangel (garrus) where shepard was essentially like "garrus?" instead of "GARRUS
Maybe if we didn't do Garrus' mission we will meet Dr.Saleon in ME3

yea i noticed odd looking geth being fought in ME3 screenshoots and videos here. Maybe selling Legion will make an impact, like saving or destroying the rachni.

Interesting, but much shorter. I would think there will be a chunk of content they will not have subs for and will just not be present.

Killing the Geth in the base doesn't exterminate all Heretic Geth. Rewriting takes time. There's your answers. Have fun with some Heretics in ME3!Homey C-Dawg wrote...

Cool. Glad to hear.
Edit: Since we killed or re-wrote the heretic geth, and some of the ME3 screenshots show Shepard fighting geth, you just put some fun theories in my head about where those ME3 ones come from. Ahh the fun of speculation.

youll miss out on a new krogan, thats not nearly as awesome as the old krogan. youll miss out on a character you get so late youll barely remember use him. then youll play ME3 and miss out on a 5 minute cameo or an email.

I should have said "Interview Q&A", he's been interviewed at Gamescom several times. Somebody from BioWare said it. I could've sworn it was him. Anyway, as far as I know Grunt's treated as dead if you don't take him out of the tank.xentar wrote...

Yeah I kinda jumped the gun on that one before thinking it through. Was wondering if anyone would catch it.
I've since replaced those theories with about twice as many other more thought out ones.

He MIGHT be dead. I could be mistaken but if ME3 takes place 12 months after ME2 then he'd definitely be dead since his tank nutritions only last a year.PsychoWARD23 wrote...

Other than making sure you save Kasumi's greybox, I cannot think of any other way to set yourself up for a bad playthrough. It sounds like you've covered the majority.
Although, I'd have kept Zaeed alive. He's one of least likely to do much charity work.
