Or....another analogy would be:
DA:O is Batman: The Animated Series
DA2 is Batman Beyond
Yeah, I like that better. It suits.
- Both are set in the Batman/Gotham City universe.
- One is Batman with the original villains.
- The other has a kid dressing up as Batman and villains are altered.
- Both have the same amount of violence.
- One has a calm yet darker feel to it while the other has a faster pace.

Funny that you bring up Batman. I actually made a comparison pic about how the differences between DA:O and DA2 feel to me based on Batman cartoons. Only I used other shows than you. Because to me TAS and Beyond are too much alike to work. They are both set in the DC Animated Universe (like Superman and Justice League) and although there are some differences one is clearly a sequel to the other. There's a new protagonist (although the original Bruce Wayne from TAS still plays a major role), the world has changed (it's set in the future after all) and it is faster paced, but there is an obvious kinship between the shows. The art style is very similar, there’s a great continuity and the world still plays by the same rules. That's not how I see DA:O and DA2.

To me DA2 felt like I was coming from watching Batman TAS and suddenly finding that instead of a new season they started airing The Batman. The show was set in Gotham as well, with Batman and most of his usual villains, but is a vastly different experience. The art style is very different, and the whole show is overall way more flashy and over the top. Instead of the relative “realism” of TAS they went all out with this reinvention of the Dark Knight. The stories sometimes were pretty dark too, but for me it was hard to take them seriously while pretty much every villain, from the Joker (!) to the Penguin (!!), seemingly was a super powered martial artist. The good thing is that The Batman wasn’t related to TAS, never marketed as such, and didn’t replace TAS after it’s first season.

So when I think about Dragon Age, to me it feels like we went from this to this.

About the OP's post. I liked the graphics just fine. No problem with them an improvement over DA:O's graphic engine. I disliked the fact that almost every Hawke I created looked the same because the face creation system was simplified from DA:O's face creation system. That said I liked the combat and not everyone is like you and plays on Nightmare difficulty. Not everyone can play a game on said difficulty and actually beat it without feeling they are getting their butts handed to them.

I'm sick and tired of the Nightmare playing crowd complaining that the game is too easy. I found the difficulty so damned hard that I had to switch back to casual just to get through the game.

Seriously, stop with the complaining already and enjoy the game for what it is. If you want a difficult game go and buy one that when you get hit once 3/4 of your life gauge is gone.

End of Line.

Im sick and tired of the causal gamers telling those who likes to be challenged to shut up. What i want is for hard and nightmare to be a challenge

I have said many times that people like different things and for us who like to be challenged we want to feel like we are which is why we play on a hard difficulty. Thats why there are harder difficulties.

Why are those that play games differently than you all of a sudden "casual"?

What is your definition of "casual"? Why does "casual" mean "does not like a challenge"?

And please don't respond with "because that's what casual means". That's a cop-out.

I meant causal as the difficulty mode they play on.

I'm a casual gamer. I usually play games wearing comfy clothes and fuzzy slippers. Are there really that many formal gamers out there? If there really is someone who games in a top hat, tux and such, I'd love to hear about it. Or a couple where he plays in tails and she wears one of those shimmery ballroom gowns? *Squee!*

I didnt say casual or normal difficulty players didnt!

Read my other posts! I never say people who play on a lower difficulty dont!

I said for those who like hard/nightmare the game did not feel as hard as we would like! I never say i want the game as a whole to be harder i want when im playing on hard/nightmare to feel like it is seriously hard!

I have said it many times in this thread.

Not sure if it counts, but I sometimes play at school or at cafés in the area. Thing is, I go to school in China, and since I'm tall and blond that means I get a lot of stares, even when I'm not shouting at the computer/laughing evilly (I know, I know, but I like to spell it that way) /(insert whatever reactions you have while playing). And lets not forget the times I forget my earphones and everyone can hear people screaming and dying... ..... Happened first time I played DA2 too, I was romancing Isabella and didn't know she'd come to Hawkes' room. Sat at a very public place while they had "fun". Without earphones. Great memory Image IPB

And I'm still thinking they should have more interaction between party members and the player. Big dissappointment.
