I have many friends who were so excited by Jennifer Hale's performance in that particular scene that it outright borded on arousal.

And I'm dead serious.

There are those of us who have made FemShep's for Jacob and really like his romance-arc    :wizard:

I loved Jacob's romance, and I was really sad to see how many people didn't give him a chance because of all the b.s. surrounding "the priiiiize". There were so many other aspects of it that were brilliant and wonderful to me. It was great that he didn't instantly fall at Shepard's feet, professing his undying love like pretty much every other LI. Jacob wanted to take things slow, and make it count, and that's awesome.

But, to each their own.

Oh come on, that priiiiiiiize line is pretty bad.

Though I agree, it's wrong that people use it to paint their entire view of him even if I'm guilty of doing so myself

I was wondering when you'd chime in. :D

I just got back from buying Halloween decorations for work (yay, zombie theme!), otherwise I would have been right on it. I'm the "cruise director" in my department, after all.

OK, back on track...

I liked Jacob alot but I couldn't even get to the Priiize line. The awful lines Femshep uses talking to him border on sexual harassment in the workplace. I couldn't deal with them.

True, femShep acted like she was in heat while talking to him. Why, Jennifer Hale? Why? I blame her.

Jennifer Hale was obviously into Jacob's Abs.

Jacob's Abs > Garrus' Scars :P

I wouldn't mind my LI saying it but some people get scared when they hear those 3 words and just imagine Miranda saying it....

The only way I can imagine BW really implementing it is if your LI dies like they did in 2 and they say, " I love you," as they die which is really cliche. If people are having such an issue on marrage, and having kids in game then I think the I love you will rank 3rd on their list of the fight of want/don't want. I say just leave it out.

All I can say it it's weird how often the phrase in used in DA compared to the fact that it is never used in ME.

Have no issue with marriage and fully blossomed relationships. I read once at least it's possible for some ME-characters to get pregnant - including Shepard. So why shouldn't it be possible for Shepard to admit love & marry his/her LI?

After all, you don't have to go down that path. Maybe only VERY are circumstances will lead you to such an ending. Actually, I'd like to see only those who were faithful to their first LI should get that branch, means - no cheating, no breaking up. First love counts.

I think romance should be more then "yes" or "no". There should be certain degrees of <3. Garrus as an example again because I just might be gay for him (just him, if there is any consilation). Maybe have 3-5 different 'levels' of romance that will determine what the ending will look like for you both. The higher ones resulting in what the thread title suggests.

Have a love... err... "point" system (obviously not shown in game for immersion, duh). For every requirement, you get a "point". This determines whether it was just a interspecies hook-up or a marriage at the end.

+ Finished loyalty mission in ME1 (Dr. Saleon)
+ Finished loyalty mission in ME2 (Sidonis)
+ Did the Paragon ending for the above mission (it shows you care about his state of mind IMHO)
+ Do the Paragon interrupt during the romance scene in ME2
+ Say you "don't want to be too cheap" about it
+ ...well, I don't know what he needs in ME3. I presume helping Solara Vakarian is part of it. You get the idea by now.

Romancing another character after Garrus is an instant 0.

Actually, the romances in ME were done nicely. Of course, they still were "easy" to solve - just stay nice to your LI (paragon-answers) and talk about their past, then you get their attention.

The romances in ME2 came a bit out of nowhere, with exception of Tali & Garrus. At least they had time to think about any feelings for Shepard since their time on Normandy SR1. of course, you still need to do their LM, but hey ... you can't get something without work.

I'd like to see some stages of love including the feared "friend zone" for newly started relationships in ME3. If you have a relationship already (ME / ME2) and never betrayed them it should be far easier to go to the next step. After all, you can't go back after sleeping with someone to "friends" easily.

Still, I dunno if BW is going to implement "fully developed relationships with dozens of possible outcomes for every single possible relationship", since that would make 10.000 lines of dialogue just for love interests. it would be nice but I don't want to get overall ME3 gameplay dumped down just to add some more romantic stuff - BW has a defined budget, they can't waste lots of it for stuff most player won't see.
However, I'd like to see a DLC that adds more romantic into the game ...

That makes sense that faithful sheps may want to hear it and perhapse that would be the condition. Beyound that I could imagine Tali saying it but people freaked out over Liara joking about kids and it started a whole should they/shouldn't they fest so it's also easy to assume that non faithful sheps getting the whole I love you w/ LIs who may not even say it normally ie Miranda, Jack, ect would be upset that BW has shoe horned them into that route.

Saying "I love you!" won't burn their lips, will it? So why not say it? (including Shep)

like the song says, those three words are said to much but not enough. They are used so often that they've almost lost meaning, and not used enough in real meaningful ways. SO, if the scene it happens in makes sense and it actually sounds sincere, i'd have no problem hearing it, ultimate bad ending (final words to each other), ultimate good ending, etc...not an in between missions talk to LI type deal.

I don't see why saying it would be such a problem. Just about all the LIs could conceivably say it under one circumstance or another.

Ashley would quote some poetry at you but would eventually blurt it out or could be goaded into doing so
Liara wouldn't need to but might because she thought humans needed to hear it anyway.
Tali might be too nervous to outright say it but in a high stress situation (ie someone's about to die) she might forget her fear and just shout it.
Miranda already mentioned love so I could see her saying it too. She might need Shepard saying it first to say it exactly but still.
Jack of all of them is the least likely. She might still get close, something like "I need you" which would be a huge concession for her anyway.

I can't really comment on the male LIs but from what I know of their general characters none would really have a problem with it (if they haven't said it already). Garrus is the only one that sticks out but he might say it for the same reasons as Liara.

Whether they should say it depends on whether specific circumstances call for it.

As far as the Jacob romance goes I didn't think he said I love you because, Shep rejected him. I was surprised that he told her how he really felt since he really doesn't like sharing his feelings.
