I havent found any topics on this, just out of curiosity... Years ago I found this by accident...

You know those Plague Victim Pyres you find in 3 districts (Beggar's, Docks and Peninsula)? If you use a torch you set them ablaze and get 25 XP for doing this. there are about 8 of them in all districts, so thats about 200 XP altogehter.

But if you instead get a weapon with fire damage (eg, that  Greatsword you can make at the Forge or a sling with fire bullets) and then hack at these pyres, each strike nets you 25 XP. The difference is that it will take you about 30-40 strikes to finish one pyre - or about 750 XP!

One should only mind not to do too much physical damage: the pyres have damage reduction of 15 or 20, so if you do say 30 dmg with say a regular Scythe (no fire), you will damage it by ten, but get NO xp, coz *only fire damage* nets you xp. Doesnt work with shock, cold, sonic... And does not work with spells (maybe Flame Weapon, but you will finish the pyres extremely fast, due to large fire dmg).

:)

well, what i meant was that probably the designers did not think to allows 25 XP for *each* fire-bas attack.

this is a huge exploit: you may get 8,000 extra XP just by throwing shurikens at PVP's. Which I do always :)

I think that Malifaun's comment was meant to indicate that, if you are looking to get XP that you already know the designers didn't intend that you get, there are easier ways to do it that won't take as long and you can move on and have fun playing. Sort of like the low-margin exploitable merchants that can be found elsewhere: it's fun to find that you can make a few hundred gold each time by buying and then selling them the same item repeatedly. But, if you want to get an extra million gold, then it's a lot less time-consuming to use the console.

On the other hand, the exploit you mention isn't one of the ones most people know
about. It would be sort of impressive if it had gone undiscovered until
now. I tend not to take advantage of the exploits because they tend to make the game less challenging without adding much fun. But it's sometimes interesting to know which ones the designers thought about (or bothered to deal with) when making the module.

Well, it is a big exploit, another big one is when you deal with Kendrack or Fenthick for bounties or letters. By pickpocketing them repeatedly you gain XPs and money.
Once again I think that taking advantage of these exploits in the OC is not that unbalancing as well in SoU. Then again, if you play the OC repeatedly that would be fine to experiment enemy threat increasing with your level by using those tricks.

I knew the one about Kendrack (pp the ears of the thugs u killed and already gave him,), but no idea about Fenthick.... What is it?

Is there a way u can *hint* at the SoU exploit without characterising as a spoiler?

thx!

Same as Kendrack; Fenthick in chapter 1 is the cleric which awaits with Desther at the end of the academy , if you bring him evidence of the cult activity (tipically assassins which try to stop you) he will give you a reward. You can try to pickpocket him and give him back those letters.

Do you want to know if I am aware of tricks in SoU that can give you more XPs? You have to excuse me, not a native english or american :-)
