Gush for my first playthrough.

I think I can honestly say, I have never loved a game more. Something about the story, the characters, the world, I was just immediately gripped. I may enjoy games like Prototype or Saints Row 2, but this is the first time I have truly felt like I was part of the world.
The characters were fantastic. Not just my companions but all the bit characters. Every character leaves an impact on you and you as a player can decide if that impact was positive or negative. I've seen so many different ways to read characters.
I loved the fact you could pursue relationships in Orgins. A little disappointed that you could not in Awakening, but, considering how faithful I made my elf to Alistair, it probably worked out for the best. I squeed when it said I probably returned to my true love at the end of the game. It is so mushy, but so sweet.
To my understanding, you do not carry on as the same Warden in DA2, which disappoints me a little. I feel an attachment to my character now and was hoping to find out where she and Alistair disappeared to. Oh well, maybe DA3.

Plus, even when I liked Awakenings, I missed my Origin team. I would have liked to have at least seen one of them. I mean, the epi called Alistair my true love. Apparently, my true love, who did not want to join me and Vigil's Keep..charming.

But I share the OPs enthusiam for DAO and its associated campaigns.
Even after several, er, numerous, playthroughs I still enjoy it.

Course, maybe I'd feel better about her if I could unlock her ruddy quest. Stupid random nature.

Honestly, that post disappoints me a little. I can understand the logic in it, but when a game hints that there are other stories to be told...well, fanfiction can only take you so far.

Exactly, fanfiction can take you only so far - that's why the tales should be finished.
In DAO, my 'canon' ending was Zevran staying with my Surana, trainng Wardens.
In DAA, Zevran was suddenly gone, and Surana leaves for Antiva, but nobody knows what happend.
In DA2, Zevran suddenly forgot all about my Surana, who went mysteriously missing, nobody knows why or where.
Hawke's story, full of inconsistencies, plot holes and rather poorly developed characters (that's my opinion, at least), ends in the middle of sentence, so to say. The Champion killed Meredith, then vanished.
Now there will be another character and I'm not optimistic. I'm afraid it will be again just for sake of bringing 'something new'. With even more inconsistencies and plotholes, as now there are two games with two different approaches to certain things, and it will be easier to invent the third one then to try and sort out the mess they created.
But we'll see, maybe a miracle will happen and it will be good. One thing is sure, I'm not going to preorder it - I'm not doing the same mistake of buying it wihout trying it first.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but it's been confirmed that The Warden wouldn't be the main character in DA3.
It has not been "CONFIRMED", it has been said that it will "LIKELY" happen.
When DA3 is actually announced, THEN it will actually be confirmed who will be protagonist is.

It's a tease, saying tales were untold and then deciding that your essentially bored telling those tales and move onto the next one. Honestly, I think if the main companions got DLC, resolving their relationships with the Warden, it might help give a sense of completion. Though obviously, it'd be too hard. Morrigan and Sten were the only 2 with truly set paths.
I've heard while DA2 was good, it received a lot more mixed reactions compared to DAO. Hopefully the writers will take whatever the criticism were on board when making DA3.

Of course, DA2 also suffered from the 'OMG, the first one was a hit, gotta make money, get it out NOW!' syndrome as well. *sigh*
But @animefan: enjoy this game. Even though FF doesn't cover everything, it does at least help. And the game itself offers a great deal of depth for multiple playthroughs if you're willing to look for it.

Once I've finished my second playthrough, I'm planning on a human noble third. Of course, I would have liked to have found the quest Velanna's Exile, but apparently the game just want to laugh at me for that.
My only disappoint with fanfictions seems to not be enough with Velanna and Wynne getting **** slapped, or at scolded by the Warden.
Anyone know of any =3

But there are very good stories out there, you just have to take the time to search for them. My love for DA lives vigorously on through FF. If it weren't for my own story or reading the many, many excellent FF's, I would have moved on long ago to another fandom. Seriously.
As for Anders being romancable, don't expect him to be the same Anders. He is...a different, creepy (twilight) version of Awakening Anders. Imo, of course.

Are your stories on ff.net? Thats where I do most of my reading. Or is there another DA site with more stories that I am unaware of.
I have heard some whispers about DA2 Anders, so I know he won't be the same. Honestly, that just makes it interesting for me. Like peeling back layers to see if his character in Awakening was a lie, or if its still in there.

The new chapter of my FF will do that, because my Warden is pretty much annoyed with Wynne wanting to tell her what the meaning of being a Grey Warden is. Of course you would have to wade through 380k words first, as I'm very verbose. Lol.
Have... to wait... until Monday... for new chapter... Gah!

Bizarro Anders? That's a little sad.
But, yeah. I've never written an FF and now I'm starting to do a little (short stories, but still!) At least we have it...
Though I wouldn't mind some actual decent 'official' DLC for Origins. I just don't see it happening.
At least the PC has some good mods that help bridge the gap.

Also, Anders and Sigrun seemed to have better endings this time around, with Sigrun bravely defending the Vigil.

I see you become annoyed for the same reasons. Though honestly, I wanted to hit her more when she decided if was her place to lecture me on love. I am a grown woman/man. Don't tell me what to do.

Yep, this is what annoys me about Wynne too. She thinks she is soooo wise she can tell me about the Grey Wardens, while my Mahariel...well, is one herself and surely know better about its meaning that some old biddy reading it in a textbook. Ugh.
My story is on FFN, yes. Just follow the link in my signature if you should be interested. A fair warning: 62 chapter are published so far, so it could take a while to read it, lol.

Okay, obviously, I have two playthroughs for Origins, but I didn't want to post anything until I had also completed Awakening. So, I'll be giving my thoughts on my first complete playthrough.

@ caradoc2000 - I have adorned myself in black and the mourning shall commence.
I can totally understand their thinking but I am very sad. I can only hope that some clever ppls continue to make DLCs or add ons to supplement the orignal stories - or break out new ones.
Still have yet to have ZEVRAN DLC *coughs* .... * bats eyes at the ppls who decide these things *
... but perhaps its time to move on - was a big fan of Assassins Creed series before here and DAO had a hard time turning my head but they did, Ubisoft kept their story consistant and only changed/improved some gameplay things in Brotherhood.
Nothing wrong with DA2 IMHO had it been released before DAO ppl would have laughed at DAO
- I do believe BIOWARE had it right with DAO however - I just think maybe DA2 should have been called something different so ppl didnt think they were getting the same thing.
*shrugs*
I still think there is a market for DAO style gaming and storyline
- LONG LIVE THE WARDENS !!! ...and OLD Zev
