Its seems I built a monster computer and it ate the shiny water. So I must  find a graphics card to get it back.

I have ddr3 memory .

The 9800gt is out of stock at newegg:crying:

What are my options in newer nividia? I know this has been discussed before but seeing as how computers are advancing every 10 secs this isn,t an old topic  imho.

Do I need to find one with open GL 2.1 or it doesnt matter as long as it has open GL?

I would go along the lines of GTX up, but if I had the dough, I would definitely get a 590.

You're really going to be badly hampered in games newer than NWN1 with that poor, puny thing, you do realize, I presume?

It isn't even able to match the performance of the seven year old cards that were needed for Oblivion to run on:

Are you using the latest driver? How's the frame rate with that card?

It's better than the minimum for NWN1:

http://www.gpureview...1=621&card2=120

and more or less the same as the nine year old card I used in NWN1 back then:

www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php

What are the minimum and recommended system requirements for playing NWN1's OC?

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

    * Windows ME/98 128 MB RAM
    * Windows XP/2000 256 MB RAM
    * 450 MHz Intel Pentium II or AMD K6-2 processor
    * 8x CD/DVD-ROM Drive
    * 1.2 GB free hard disk space
    * 16 MB Open GL 1.2 compatible video card with 32-bit color support
    * DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
    * DirectX 8.1 (included)
    * Keyboard, Mouse

RECOMMENDED:

    * 800 MHz or faster Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
    * 256 MB RAM
    * NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS, or ATI Radeon 7500 or faster video card.

This has been said several times before, but believe you me, sonny, the only true way for graphics and performance to improve is to spend some serious dough in a great videocard. I'm not talking about one that allowed a good NWN experience 5 years ago, I'm talking top of the line material. Even if you have to sell body parts in order to get it, it will play every old game and most present games smoothly, and it will also hold for at least another 5 years, till it becomes sub-standard and the whole process begins anew. Welcome to civilization!

I see that more foolishness regarding the really awful sub-basement G 210 came up again.

The one you bought Knight_Shield is probably super for NWN...

...although newer nvidia cards work fine too and the one i have Nvidia GTX 550i is not too expensive either...

im on a nVidia GeForce GTX 460 SE - And still get occasional stutteryness with NWN.

Any other game, Oblivion, Fable 3, Half Life 2, Champions Online, City of Heroes - Can run at Maximum graphical settings, even in 3d (3d Vision) - Perfect, and no slow or stutteryness.

Neverwinter Nights just wasnt built in such a way that it takes advantage of new graphic card technology, in some cases, if you want to get perfect seamless play with nwn, you may need to use the older cards.
Geforce 200 Series was ok for me, if I remember correctly.
