Hi, I'm getting the game for PS3, but I'm just curious, my comp has a GeForce 8600 GT with 512mb.  I've lost track of the numbers and letters (8800, 9800, GT, GTS, etc.).  Just as far as video cards are concerned, I'm just wondering where this falls on the spectrum for recommended specs... is it below spec, low-end, middle of the road?  Since I've gotten married I've kind've lost touch with keeping tracking with all the newest stuff. =) Thanks!

I haven't directly tested the game with this card, but should definitely allow you to play the game comfortably at least on medium settings and possibly on high as well if you can stick with lower resolutions (1024x768). As far as Dragon Age requirements go, this video card is between min specs and recommended specs, but definitely closer to recommended specs.

I wanted to mention that the minimum specs seem quite down there in comparison to a lot of titles released. Based on my experience with Bioware, I wouldn't be surprised if you can make it look good on an 8600.

My workplace has 8600's installed as well, so I certainly hope it looks decent. When I get serious, I've got a set of 9800's at home.

I have a GTX 295 on my main PC and Geforce 130M on my laptop. It looks like the latest NVIDIA beta drivers is supposed to help Dragon Age performance. Can you confirm this Andreas?

So, if I meet the recommended specs (or am just a TAD under) should i be able to max the game out/almost max it out, graphics-wise?

I hope the beta drivers get finalized soon. I always have bad experiences with nVidia's beta drivers.

I wouldn't expect that. I'd expect a good resolution at medium/high, rather than maximum detail.

See, i"ve always wondered that. I'm right at the recommended specs. Some games, that means you can put your graphics on all max. Others, it only means that you can run it decently. I'm hoping to run it at mostly high graphics settings at 1680 x 1050.

digitalforceq: Yes, the updated nvidia drivers will help with performance on certain video cards. You won't have any performance issues with your particular video card.

Unknown Username: Yes. Recommended specs mean you can play highest detail on high resolution (like 1920x1080). A tad under means you may have to compromise a bit on the resolution.

Amazing!  Thanks so much for the reply!

The only thing I'm under recommended is my processor -- I've got a duocore @ 2.66GhZ (E6750)

Everything else is right at or over recommended.  Have to say I'm glad to hear this.  Thanks again!

Are performance tests run on generally used PCs? Or are they a sterile environment?

Now if someone from Bioware or has the game can answer my question if there is/will be toggles for gore/violence and if it affects performance..

There is a toggle for gore according to another thread. Not sure if it affects performance though. Probably not a whole lot is my guess.
