attached Shepards - the plan is to continue existing relationships, if that doesn't happen, then they are put into storage and bioware goes on a permanent "buy on super awesome sale only, after reading a lot of reviews" list (because if there are no continuations for relationships that means bioware are dirty liars- but I don't think they are). single Sheps - either remain single (especially if I don't like the ME3 options at all) or whichever new romances would seem to fit.

I've only got one Shepard (mental block, won't roll a new one until I bet ME3), and she only has one LI option. I have no back up. So...

I plan to get with Ashley this time instead of continuing with Liara, but if Ashley isn't available like she has fail to have been in ME1 and 2 then Liara it is.

Yep.

Actually, I don't believe you won't be able to keep your LI of ME or ME2 in ME3. Maybe some LI are just lesser present than others, but they're still in the game. Especially the VS and Liara should be still available in ME3 for any love (includes scenes).
