Honestly, Garrus is the only ME male LI (from ME 1 or 2) that appeals to me. If I want super-angst, I have a reliable supply (Fenris), and if I want Charming/Naive-in-an-interesting-way, there's Alistair. I will probably do a Thanemance at some point, but I barely have time to keep the canon game going (after a couple of PTs to figure out the 'grand plan' for canon).

Disclaimer: This does not mean I hate any ME character.

Backup Plan: Forever Alone

Gabriella Shep (Paragon):
LI: Kaidan then moved on with Jacob whom she loves, and will stay with him if she has to choose.
Backup Plan: James because she really likes dem abs! If not Joker!

Roxanne Shep (Renegon) (Favourite shep so far):
LI: no LI yet. She has been gunning for Joker since ME1 and would like to tell him come ME3! Pretty please Bioware!
Backup Plan: This shep is Bi so, 1st choice is Ashley if she is a s/s option. 2nd Shiala because I thought they had some chemistry. 3rd Garrus since they are BFFL and she trusts garrus more then anyone in the world.

Canon MaleShep Alex (Paragon):
LI: Ashley then he moved on with tali and will have a really hard time choosing between the two. However, I think Alex will stick with Tali in the end because Tali never abandoned him like Ashley did.
Backup Plan: If not Ashley or Tali, he will probably give up on love and stay forever alone.

Julius Shep (Paragon):
LI: Liara.
Backup Plan: Forever alone, he really loves Liara. He would most likely go out in a blaze if anything happened to her.

And that is all my sheps so far! I will probably add a few more sheps to the list before ME3 comes out.

My Shep doesn't have a "back up plan." He's busy with the Reapers and he never planned to be into Ashley, but he ended up going for her even though it was kind of out of character for him (what can I say, she makes an impact). So even if they couldn't be together I can't see anyone else just filling that role. He doesn't really "date" or fall for people easily or even really think about it that much. He's a workaholic.
