Then King Jeremiah invaded me and I owned his Castlevania ass (he had a whip as a weapon) but then I got slew but those skeletons that are attached to spike wheels and these weren't the normal types either, they had red glows around them and thus were more powerful than the ones you encounter in the Catacombs but I managed to take down a few with me. All in all, I think I cleared most of the World of Ariamis in first go. I got the Main Castle door open and with the bonfire right outside, I can easily get back to where I last was for revenge, then I'll see what I can do with that Undead Dragon.
The Painted World of Ariamis reminded me of Castlevania though for sure and you even make footprints in the snow as you run through it which I thought was a nice touch (some games don't include such a feature anymore).

Not sure about you, but I'm finding the movement to be a bit sluggish in combat.

Is it the taurus demon on the castle ramparts? If so then here's a super simple strategy for killing him with melee:The Earl Of Bronze wrote...
I'm level 20 at the moment, playing as warrior, but keep getting killed by a Taurus Demon, I use a plunging attack then he just keeps knocking me down, try to dodge out but keeps knocking me down. Have tried a few times now with no luck, any tips?

As soon as you enter the castle wall, turn around and go up to the top of the tower behind you and kill the two skeleton archers. Once they are dead, go back down to the castle wall, walk forward, and spawn the tuarus demon. As soon as he hops down onto the wall to fight you, run back and climb up the ladder to the tower where you just killed the two skeleton archers. Once you climb to the top, don't wait too long, target the demon, jump down and do your R1 attack as you fall down. You will stab into his head and take over 1/3 of his life away. Lure him away, run/roll past him and repeat the process. Three stabs in the head and he is dead.

Thanks, been trying to do this but he keeps trapping me with knock downs, as soon as he gets me once I'm as good as dead, can't get away. Usually straight after the plunging attack he knocks me down and I can't seem to get away, as soon as I stand up he strikes again. Will have another go.

Probably the most annoying fight I've done at the moment, try and avoid his jump attack as soon as you go in, then run to the stairs and kill his two dogs, after that jump off the top of the stairs and the rest of the fight should be simple enough to do, just watch out for his jump attack and when he swings both swords at you.

That was the fight that got me to put down the game finally in frustration. He's just in my face and pinning me against the wall the second I zone in, so I can't even get near the stairs. Just a terrible design decision to not even give the player a moment to get their bearings or room to maneuver.
But conversely, the dual gargoyle boss fight was much more enjoyable because it had neither of those issues. Even with the potential of accidently rolling off the roof.

The very beginning of the fight is very important. You have to make use of the invincibility frames during the beginning of your roll to dodge the Capra demon's initial swing (because blocking will often get you stunlocked), and if you rolled into a dog, then attack it immediately coming out of the roll (e.g., hitting R1 during a roll will execute a unique, out-of-roll attack). Then make your way up the stairs and onto the ledge, which will give you a small window in which to kill the other dog or heal. Once the Capra demon follows you up, jump down, and finish off the last of the dogs if you haven't already. Once the Capra demon is alone, the fight becomes incredibly easy.
In addition, I'd suggest not using lock-on targeting until you've killed both dogs.

The mobile, evasive playstyle is my favorite thing in the game. Well except those times I acrobatically roll myself off a ledge.

This happened to me when I first entered Blighttown. I was fighting those fat, club-wielding demons and accidentally rolled off the platform, plummeting to my death.
A quick question, if your hurt an NPC of your faction, does your covenant kick you out? In another silly rolling incident, I rolled off a platform and landed on Shiva, the Forest Hunter merchant that appears in Blighttown if you join their covenant. I saw that he took damage, so I was scared that I may have broken their covenant. He was still friendly towards me, but I just want to make sure that I didn't ruin my status in the covenant. I guess I should visit that NPC at the top of the gargoyle bell tower to check just in case.

When I quit Thursday, I didn't want to get addicted to something playing friday, I had just beat:
Ornstein and Smough and bought Ornstein's armor, I also killed Ornstein first and then died to get the Leo Ring. It's amazing how just one other person distracting Ornstein while I was trying to take down Smough, helped immensely. My problem wasn't their HP, but how Ornstein kept coming out of nowhere and thrusting his spear straight through Smough, yes his spear goes through Smough and can deal damage to you. Ornstein would do it straight through Smough's back directly through his gut.
I also survived Giant Ornstein's Grab attack, it is not OHKO like some people would try to tell you. I have 970 some odd HP and didn't even max out and I survived with one segment of health left. Thank god the other guy got him to turn around so I could heal. I had 20 flasks at +3. Then before I beat the game, I am going to kill the two fire keepers because you get their souls, I already killed Lautrec so he's not going to kill the one.
Now I don't know where to go next. So many options...

Do
the plunging attack then run to the opposite side of the bridge and
when you near the other end, turn back around and just keep running,
he'll try his swiping attack but you'll be long out of its range. Then
you climb up the ladder again, you'll get hit trying to climb the ladder
if your equip burden is over 50%.

Just got to Anor Londo and imagined the Dark Souls title coming up as the cut scene played out showing the massive city with a mini title saying "Well done finishing the prologue" because I would really believe that! I'm 40 hours in and I think I've still got a LOT to do. Entered the Painted World of Ariamis and by God is it beautiful and dark! I encountered this Undead Dragon there on the end of a bridge and the dragon seemed to have half its body missing, in any case, I didn't feel like fighting it yet and thus retreated down some stairs where I was greeted by some naked bird creature which I slew.
Wait til you get to Priscilla's room. There's a reason you can see footprints in the snow..

Are both strength and dexterity required for higher level weapons? Only been spending points in strength, endurance and vitality so far.
Don't put too many points into Strength/Dexterity. Weapons scale significantly less with those stats than in Demon's Souls - once you get to about 20 with both, you can equip most of the weapons out there. If you want to 1-hand a 2-handed weapon, of course, feel free to keep pumping Strength, but otherwise Endurance and Vitality are better choices.

Nicely done! I wish I could beat the Capra Demon. I gave it another shot today but it only ended in tears.
