I'm still wondering why OXM put that in their magazine.

Magazines aren't meant to spoil plots and Bioware wouldn't give out plot details like that...yet they said it anyway.

I think its known that all squad mates can possibly die in ME 3 depending on your actions but I doubt Garrus will definitely die, this just seems false

That would be an awfully big spoiler. I'm guessing they either made it up or heard about the Anderson rumor and misinterpreted it as Garrus.

Here's hoping there isn't a VS scenario where someone is going to lose each time. Granted it would be very evil to do a VS styled choice with two main members such as Garrus/Tali (this would be insanely evil for fans of both given their respective popularity) in scenarios where they survived, granted this news does poise a question.

"What if he's already dead?" I think there won't be a any pigeon holing like VS it will be more closer to the suicide mission throughout the entire game if anything I think because the only confirmed characters you can't kill prior to ME3 are VS, Vega, Shepard, and the new female squad mate they have not announced the name of yet.

I may also be underestimating the scope Bioware is going to cover with scenario differences and the plot changes it will follow.

If I lose Garrus then there goes the franchises main alien sidekick who actually looks like an alien.]

But still I imagine that it will be optional, like everything else. Something that MIGHT happen but somehow I doubt a really popular character like Garrus would be guarenteed to die, plus given that he isn't actually guarenteed to be in the game (given that he could have died in Mass Effect 2) I'm not sure how they would write a 'dramatic death scene' for a character who might not even be in the game in some playthroughs.
Plus I'm not sure how reliable this magazine is, presumably if this was the case Bioware would want it covered up so that when it happens there is real impact, I don't see them as the sort to gie away huge spoilers so flippantly.
