BioWare hasn't pulled a completely scripted, non-tutorial squadmate death since Jade Empire (although Dragon Age II came close, but not quite). I'm pretty confident in saying that if you want Garrus alive, he'll stay that way.

I too believe that we may likely be facing the unavoidable death of a squadmate.  I do not believe, however, that we'll be facing the death of a specific squadmate.  It'll be a choice we make at some point, or a choice we will not have known we made.

I wouldn't get too worked up about story rumors until you hear that sort of thing from BioWare. There'll be a ton of speculating about characters, romances, plots, etc between now and launch. Read all of it, but take it with a grain of salt until you hear any such rumor confirmed by BioWare.

Well that will never happen because you don't comment on rumours do you Chris?  That's what you have been saying in the MP threads.  Or maybe you only comment on the rumours you want to?

I don't mind any character dying as long as that death is important in one way or another. Even a pointless death at times can serve as character development device. If Shep loses Garrus and gets as worked up as Garrus did losing his men, I could like that. If Garrus dies and your reaction is limited to the response you give consoling Ashley and Dr. Chakwas I'd be pretty annoyed. I like that Liara and a few other characters ask Shep how Shep is doing. Shep is not invincible and unfallable, letting Shep be human through dialogue now and again would be nice.
