Why would he commit suicide?...How does that equal up?...His just trying to find a way to get the questions answered about the missing colonists (takes priority over his personal hates) and then get the hell away from Cerberus with plans to go back and destroy it after his dealt with the Reaper Galactic threat.

I'm looking at you Liara...<_<
Then you should look again because you can be rude or businesslike to Liara on Ilium. For example, Shepard's response to Liara's "I couldn't let you go..." is absolutely horrible. My mission is important; that's all?
I prefer some banter or unprompted dialogue over ""Shepard ,even if it involves characters I don't like.
LotSB was the first time Shepard's character ever really came alive for me.

Being brought back to life by someone who was considering being putting a control chip in their head? Yes Shep should be ever so grateful for that.
And sadly not all people believe Suicide is something they should do. My Sheps were fine with a natural death.

Shepards a warrior and a professional, I have a hard time imagining that after the long road to Saren that Shepard could still be a jerk to any of them.
You can pick up Liara last (resulting in a rather humorous scene) and not pick up Garrus at all. >_>
And really, the game gives you plenty of options if you want to be a jerk to people. You can outright kill Zaeed (and anyone else really, but go with it), ruin Tali, destroy Thane's relationship with his son, kill Samara, sell Legion, choose not to activate Grunt, berate Mordin, kill Jacob's father, etc.
I'm a tad confused as to why they had Liara remain your friend while creating a giant rift between you and the VS, though. >_> I mean, my Shepard didn't know Liara at all; she was some crazy blue woman who thought he was a hallucination and threw a hissy fit that he already knew about the Protheans.

I just needed to point out that Garrus is a bro. He always was a bro, and always will be a bro. When he was shot down by that gunship, his biggest concern was that they messed up his popped collar. There is nothing wrong that Garrus talks to you about his slam piece. It's what bros do. Wrex is a bro too. This is why you spend the entire demo mission being a kick ass wingman and getting HIM a slam piece.

And he is seriously like the only character in the game that doesn't have connection to the biggest things in the galaxy. Liara is the daughter of the most powerful Asari ever, and is now the Shadow Broker. Jack is the most powerful human biotic and the most wanted criminal. Grunt is the ultimate Krogan. Tali is some kind of Quarian Queen everybody except Koris loves. Wrex is the big poobah of Tuchanka.
And Garrus is a cop who wanted to help out Shepard because the mission interested him, with a middle-lower class family trying to get by. Finally, a relatable character. Also, his lines are golden.

Yeah, this is why I tend to avoid Renegading. Tali and Thane's mess-withs are exceptionally terrible.
Alright, you've got me curious as to that picking up Liara last comment, and I'm sure Youtube will never yield a video of it from random searches. Mind sharing?

One of the few games where you get to act all buddy-buddy with your friends? I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I love it. In fact, I'd like to have more "best friend" moments with Garrus in ME 3.
Acting buddy buddy with your friends is great. OTOH, what if they're not your friends? Few of the characters here are universally beloved.
Edit: And then there's those who want to RP jerks

I agree with this. Even though lots of people hated the Liara hug things, a whole lot of people loved seeing Garrus and Wrex again. I think it is more Bioware thinking that, since people liked characters in the first game, they should act like they are already liked in the second game. Or rather, they are thinking that the players have the same attitude as their Shepards.AdmiralCheez wrote...
the average player was probably happy to see those old friends again, and damn it, those broments were the best parts of the game.
So, yeah, it did take away a lot from the roleplaying aspect of the game. It would be nice if they could have implemented something like in Dragon Age 2, where being disagreeable to a character would make them less friendly toward you. But I understand that it would be unlikely for them to implement such a thing in the third game of a series.

Oh right...
I always thought of that as just a way to keep Ash/Kaidan out of ME2 to be honest. Or maybe they actually thought that everyone romanced Liara...?

In that case, they should have given them legitimate reasons to not work with Shepard, rather than the derpy "Cerberus is playing Shepard/collaborating with the Collectors!" nonsense we ended up with.
Why not have them undertaking their own mission of high importance, maybe something that ties in with their eventual induction into the Spectres?
