Wouldn't it be an awesome twist if The Reapers gave you an option to work for them..?

It would would be awesome but you also know what else would be cool is if you could get a collector companion on your teem in mass effect 2 or 3.

But think of the armor and weapons the reapers would give you. Also anyone ever thought of having a collector companion on your team in mass effect 2?

When this thread shows up it's either about how Saphra has been cloned or about moronic one dimensional answers.

Considering we have no effing clue about what the Reapers motivations, goals and finally reasons for doing what they do are, it actually makes sense to be able to join them if Bioware doesn't make them one-dimensional as the majority of people that posted above (with few exceptions). If there's a sufficient reason and cause for their behavior (and I hope there is, cause evil for sake of being evil is retarded) then there should be an option that Shepard can align with them.

And considering it's the final game Bioware can finally go fully creative and branch off different paths and endings. Of course the mass of you are "omg let me teh KILL REAPERS, BLUE BABIES, TALI"S FACE OMG" so hopefully they won't look at the core base of what's going on BSN - since only three things go here for the majority of time - Tali, Liara, I hate Cerberus - let me kill the Illusive Man".

What I don't understand is that it's optional - so if you don't want it, don't have your Shepard join them.

As others have stated, it would be interesting if a player made many horrible decisions and trusted the wrong people if that player would be slowly indoctrinated and at some pivotal point in the game would be told they were just a puppet of the reapers.

There are problems with this whole thing. If they were going to go this route they would have done it already in some form. Harbringer had several chances to pull something like this and didn't. EDI data mined a Collector ship for whatever she could find. Would have been easy to plant something in there to make Shepard agree to something like this... it didn't happen.

Same with Indoctrination. Is it stil possible? Yes it is.

But at the same time. By the time of the third story it would basically be a copout. I know it's a copout that some people would like to see but it would be. Why wasn't he indoctrinated before this with stuff he's been through? The Dead Reaper corpse, a few different side missions with indoctrination tech. the Arrival mission where he takes a mental blast strong enough to knock him out for like a day. The time he spent on the collectors base apparantly?

On top of that. we know that Saren's resolve against the reapers was weakened at some point, Perhaps before he even ran into harbringer, by what he saw from the beacon. you actually see the same reaction in the one assistant in the locked little building in the first mission in ME1 from the beacons vision. And Saren tries to convince Shepard that it's the right thing to join the Reapers and they will continue on and be fine. You can actually cause Saren to kill himself knowing it is wrong. If there was evidence like what you propose. Don't you think that Soveriegn or Saren might have used it at the end of ME1 to get Shepard to back down and let the invasion commence? It would have been the perfect time to do it. Even if just to buy time because Sovereign didn't need much longer to take control of the citadel and swarm the Galaxy with Reapers.
