Wrong, STR makes up for the majority of dmg with a bow, dex adds 0,5 points of dmg with each dex point. The cunning modifier skill called lethality (DW skill) swaps out the Str modifier for Cun points. Though you need to buy 3 skills in a field you will not use if solely being an archer.
Did u came out of an egg shell? both str(or cunning in some case) and dex have the exact same Dmg value for bow attacks, and for both shortbow and xbow str does NOTHING <---. since str adds nothing to att rating for ranged, it is nothing but stupid to take str instead of just pumping dex. Cunning is something u take if u plan to be more "group friendly". it is gimping one's own dmg while doing so.
Well that depends entirely on whether or not you want to install the hotfix, I'm just giving the vanilla story. So keep your eggs to yourself.
