Enjoy it while it lasts. The bigots will arrive soon enough, probably. The thing is that I fully expected most of the replies from straight gamers to be: "No, thank you!" It's kind of cool to see that at least some can enjoy roleplaying aspects without feeling inescure, etc., etc. It's no different then when I play a femShep despite being a guy: I did it mostly to see the differences between the two versions of playthroughs, etc.
Would you let your shepard enjoy some male s/s?

well concidering that quite a few s/s supporters are in fact straight - I'm not surprised at all. I played maleshep for the more or less the same reason you played femshep, myself. differences in dialogue areminor outseide of romantic relationships, but the voice alone makes it worth it at least once(voice protagonist is the only reason i have a male Hawke at all) and there are some relationships that are simply not available unless you play a male.
that said - bioware's usual modus operandi for s/s relationships is for them to be 99% copy of m/f relationship. one one hand- it allows people to experience all content with character of the gender they wish to. on the other hand it makes it more or less pointless to play other gender character. which is why I have f/f relationship saves in ME and Dragon age, but no m/m ones so far, even though I'm not interested in lesbian relationship in real life. /shrug.

What does this have to do with anything? I'm female, but I have three male Shepards. I didn't suddenly grow a penis, I don't think have gay and lesbian Shepards is going to cause some seismic shift in my psyche either.
I'm also a straight female yet my celibate femshep will be all up on Ashley or Miranda if given a chance. Also, my very first playthrough was with default Sheploo and I had no issue with romancing women with him.
I don't know why it's not obvious to more people that Shepard Is Not You. But some people seem to think that they are only allowed to play Self Insert Avatar Shepard, and that their identity is called into question if they color outside the lines by playing opposite-sex Shepard or gay/bisexual Shepard. Oddly enough, choosing to role-play a character different from oneself actually does not affect the "validity" of the labels we apply to ourselves. Playing Gay Shepard doesn't mean you're gay, any more than playing Male Shepard suddenly makes me a dude.

Well, I only play a lesbian Shepard, so I can't blame them for wanting to stick to familiar territory.Siansonea II wrote...

Not a whole lot of variety available if you're just in heterosexual FemShep territory.

Nope because it doesn't interest me. I didn't do a Liara/Femshep romance either. I'm glad that they are giving gay gamers the option to roll play themselves though.
...as well as giving role-players a chance to play other types of roles, right? Contrary to popular (mistaken) belief, it's not just gay gamers who will be rolling up with Gay Shepard in ME3. Not everyone plays Me Shepard, you know.

Garrus would be nice
*Waits for that idiot who always posts a link to that "no no no no no" video on YouTube in response to requests for Garrus as a s/s love interest to show up in the thread.

Windmill, windmill for the land
love forever hand in hand
taking it all in your stride......something, something dark side.

you have the definition wrong. polyamorous meaning likes relationships with more then one person at the time. you can be heterosexual and still poly. everysexual or as the actual term goes - pansexual means you can potentialy be atracted to people without any regard to their physicalsex or gender. you can be pansexual and monogamous.

Personally, I have a sick and twisted fetish for female role models. I LOVE reading about them, watching them in movies and on tv, and I am thrilled when I discover new female artists and musicians. It's a thing, I've had it since I was old enough to know the difference between boys and girls.
So when it comes to video games, I want to play a female character. I have no interest in playing a dude if there is a choice, and I no longer play games where I cannot choose a female avatar, for the most part (certain games where the male protagonist is well developed get a pass from me). I often enjoy playing different types of female characters, but I enjoy playing "Joan of Arc" types the most. So I guess I know what I like, and I enjoy recreating that fantasy in different forums.
For me, no dude Shepards. I am thrilled by the idea that male Shepards are getting their chance for s/s romance in ME3, but I won't partake. I know I'm limiting my replay value with my own play style, but there's always YouTube, and it's fine with me.

I have trouble making decisions that seriously impact the story/character just to "see what happens" in games like this.
With the Rachni queen I still have trouble not killing her... even on multiple playthroughs. Or starting as a "War Hero" (so cliched...)
Hurts the replayability for me but eh... I stay more immersed in the world I guess.
