If the romance path is well-written then yes I would probably play through it once or twice (Het. Male). I don't get why someone's sexuality would ever be an issue, but y'know.

I'm asexual, so I could never even dream of roleplaying myself in ME, since BioWare romances are all sexual. So I'm already not caring if any of my Shepards don't entirely mesh with my own orientation. As far as romance itself goes, I tend to prefer s/s, particularly f/f. I'm not entirely sure why, but perhaps it's the difference in dynamic from the o/s relationships we've all seen millions and millions of times in media and such. The dauntless male hero who gets the girl?

Of course. Why not?

As a plant who reproduces via budding (by far the most hilarious method) I can totally understand where you're coming from.

And suddnely many of your posts make a lot more sense.
If the LI was to my taste then I'd give it a go, but I haven't met that LI yet. I happily do any f/f romances I can find where the personalities seem to mesh well, and I avoid o/s romances where I don't think they do. To me it's about whether the couple fit together well.

No Im straight thank you!
What does this have to do with anything? I'm female, but I have three male Shepards. I didn't suddenly grow a penis, I don't think have gay and lesbian Shepards is going to cause some seismic shift in my psyche either.
I'm also a straight female yet my celibate femshep will be all up on Ashley or Miranda if given a chance. Also, my very first playthrough was with default Sheploo and I had no issue with romancing women with him.
I don't know why it's not obvious to more people that Shepard Is Not You.
(snip)
That's simply how some people play RPGs. I've noticed two main schools of thought on this. Some people create an independent personality for their avatars, and think "what would this Shepard do?" every time they were faced with a decision.
Others do essentially a "self insert". When facing decisions they think "what would I do, what do I think is right?"
The self insert method is not an invalid or inferior way to play it, as you seem to think. I can't enjoy my RPGs without doing it that way, normally. For this reason, I will almost always play a hetero/male character. In order for this method to work, I need to be able to relate to the person on the screen. Playing female characters and such just doesn't work for me, as I can't relate to them.
The one and only exception this was my female human noble warden in DAO. Chiefly because the King Alistair / Warden Queen ending to DAO is just so wonderfully and patriotically Ferelden that I couldn't not do that playthrough.

Now to actually answer the OP, if I had a male Shepard, I'd consider it. If I make a male Shepard, I will consider it. I have a straight femShep, a gay femShep, why not make things even and create a bisexual male Shepard who is stuck between his feelings for Kaidan and his feelings for Miranda's butt.

omg, this had gone on for 4 pages and nearly a day and isn't up in flames. remarkable! Everyone is peacefully sharing their opposing opinions! Someone pinch me I must be dreaming!.
I am genuinely stunned.
Forgot to add before: I'll also be creating another femShep to run through ME/ME2 and await a non-Liara female LI in ME3.
And if there's more than one male s/s LI - pretty likely - I'll probably make sure I get around to wooing them all, if only to see how Bioware goes with the writing.
