Pretty sure thats where all this "only 20%" nonsense is coming from. The statistics are out of context but people sure do love to rub other people's faces in them when it suits their particular bias. <_<

Even if only 20% play exclusively FemShep, if you think in absolute numbers and not percentages, that's 400k people (I've no idea how many copies of ME2 are sold, tbh)... 400k or more is nothing you should discard quite easily.

I know, that was my original point.  People quote percentages without context and think that they're presenting irrefutable proof that their particular bias is the one and only true way to look at the subject in question.

Same here, I like my butch Shep just fine.
And I just thought the armour in Liara's place had been flattened out of shape (is more noticeable now I'm playing on pc and can see it better)- if you look closely there are strap-things sticking out, that and it looks more like the back to me - which would make sense since Lgion has the N7 bit - again, that part was probably shaped to fit legion better too.

's what I think anyway B)
(Also, the little black abomination went out the nearest airlock the moment Kasumi's mission was over:whistle:)

Agreed on everything else, but the bolded? Unfortunately, nope.

Notice how it lacks the horizontal ribbing, and the metal bit at the bottom has five dividing lines, not three?

This game was built for dudeShep.

I like that Shep sits with her legs sprawled and takes up some damn space. She's a marine. If your femShep is so disturbingly unprofessional that she wears a cocktail dress while commanding a military vessel, it's your own fault, and I have no sympathy. I do not trust any gaming company, especially the one that gave us Lady Hawke's "walk" and Samara's "armor," to do separate walk and sit animations that do not horrify me.

I don't like that all my clothes, armor and scars have half the resolution of dudeShep's, everyone who has "my" armor has dudeShep's, all of the kisses and crossed arms are blocked for dudeShep, all of my camera angles are glued to Miranda's ass (... admittedly most of my femSheps are queer as snow in Sunnydale but the point stands). I do trust BioWare to cut that crap out in ME3 if sufficiently reminded that it's not okay.

I saw a site where it said 18% played as DEFAULT female Shepard, I can't recall the site itself.

Does anyone have a link to Bioware's original release of the information?

99% of the animations are gender neutral... except they aren't. They are designed for male shepard. Fem!shep will clip through people when hugging them, walk like she has a boner, etc etc

The.. dress obtained in Kasumi's.. DLC...- 'specially when sitting down, catching Garrus between his "calibrations"..- Yeah. 'nuff said.

The whole ME series was written for Mshep that's why fshep is the secondary protagonist of the story but unfortunately this was really glaringly obvious in 2 with her football run and her fist fighting a yahg just to name a few. I can excuse the horrible run, walk, sprint, and sitting animations as fshep is recovering so she's not like she was in ME but they really need to work on that in ME3 and give back her ME moves now with the add of the dress however she's going to have to walk and sit differently have one animations for dress wear (like legs closed) thaey also should reflect heels and when she's in pants (which is 98% of the game) have her more like she did for ME standard.

As long as she never ends up in a dress and heals with no choice on the part of the player... fine.

(And by the time Shep fights the Broker, I doubt male vs female average muscle mass is a major factor in Shep's physical strength.)

That fight scene done with fshep was so horribly portrayed I can't watch it that was the ultimate in manly fshep portrayal and it was a train wreck. I can't buy the whole cyberbones or reinforced muscle mass she received would still be enough for her to magically do that on her frame she should look like China. she should've just kick boxed him I could've bought that 1% more then 0.

I have no problem with how femshep is portrayed. I love that she fights the same as manshep. I love punching the SB in the face. I even like her manly walk. It gives her personality. I like that she doesn't have to be stereotypically feminine. She's a little awkward. Which is great!

Yes, she has clipping issues. Yes they could spend more time on her. She can be better. But I like the spirit of the way she has been treated. She IS Shepard. And Shepard should be just as badass, just as proactive, just as respected and imposing regardless of gender.

So. Yeah. My 2 cents.

I don't like male Shepard to walk like he has a boner too...

I dunno, but I wonder if looking like a real femme headbutting krogans is the best way to go.

Perhaps this is the article to which you're referring?

Again, context or the figures mean nothing. 18% of how many people total? 18% of 200 players would be much different than 18% of 4 million, now wouldn't it? Stop quoting statistics until you know the context in which they were created.

This IGN article gives statistics that 80% of the player base played as a male Shepard. What those oft quoted statistics do not reveal is how many played exclusively as dudeshep. I personally have one dudeshep playthrough. I also have seven femshep playthroughs. Technically, I am one of that 80% who have played a male Shepard, even though I mainly play as femshep.

It doesnt even seem to be a set statistic.  Brenon even said he wasnt sure exactly how the figure was calculated but assumed it was from polling because it isnt from game data.

"I'm not entirely sure where we get that specific information, since it wouldn't be from any of the in-game data... but I would guess it's most likely from polling."

Wait ... what?!

Instead of using the game data collected. They used a poll?

The data wouldn't be that accurate either. I, for example, and many others do not allow gameplay data uploading.

Wouldn't suprise me in the least.  You can easily game the system by phrasing the question in such a way as to elicit  the response which you're looking for.

Data gathering is set on default and is more or less hidden. I think it gives a relativly precise set of data.

I played as a male Shepard 3 times in poth games on the Xbox 360 and 22 times as a female Shepard on the same console and 2 times (I'm still going through my second play through) as femShep on the PS3.

I completed DA:O as a male 1 time on the PS3. I only played a male to get to the Witch Gone Wild achivement on the Xbox 360 but once that was done I deleted the character and never finished the game with that male character.

I tried the male Hawke in the DA2 demo and I have never played the actual game with him and I don't have any plans to do so.

Maybe. I go though every in game menu before starting the actual game. I don't really know how many others do the same.

So you know better than the Bioware marketing director when it comes to statistics then eh? Posted Image

It truly is amusing for me to watch femShep fanatics stutter "b-b-but!" when it comes to accepting the fact that a lot more people play as DudeShep than FemShep Posted Image

Also regardless of what you seem to think, few people have the time or the inclination to perform multiple playthroughs of the same game.  If you've done 8 combined playthroughs, then you are definitely an exception, and not the rule.

The majority of people (including myself) that played ME2 through to completion, did so ONCE.  Heck, according to Bioware, only 50% of the people that bought ME2 actually finished it!

And 18% is 18%.

Point... Missed.

I don't believe that I was saying anything about being smarter than Bioware. What I said was that statistics, taken out of context, are meaningless and the playerbase shouldn't be trying to use said statistics as proof of their particular bias. Bioware really hasn't released their statistics in context.
