I don't have anything against MMOs either, except for how addictive they are. I was hooked on MMOs for a while, but I decided it was too difficult to find time for everything and stopped playing.

I do have something against the amount of MMOs released.

As for RPGs these days, I am fairly optimistic. I loved my C64 games and I still do. We're probably not going to see many more games in the style of the Infinity Engine games. That doesn't mean newer games can't be good. Presentation has certainly changed to the more cinematic, and games do sometimes seem a bit dumbed down, but right now there are some good games on the horizon: Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Borderlands 2. No they are not traditional RPGs, but they'll still make this old man feel like he's a little kid opening Christmas presents. Let's just hope it's not like those electrical cars I got once that never worked :)
