It's a Bishōjo statue. Don't complain because she has a young face with boobies. That's the freakin point.

But if you are defending this statue because it's 'anime' or some particular style... do you really mean to imply Japan is incapable of doing anything else? They can, and have, made beautiful statues. In fact I'd argue that Japan has some of the most top quality statues in the world. But simply being a 'style' doesn't give it a free pass.

Kotobukiya has made some gorgeous statues, even if they are not all to my taste. But if you look through them, there is a very key difference between this statue and many of the others. Many of the other statues in this line feature some awesome dynamic poses and great characterizations of the women they represent. [And well, the fanservice.]

The problem with this statue is that it doesn't capture anything that is Liara, and the fanservice feels forced.

No offense, but who's implying that? It seems that you are just making an assumption.

Also, as much as I like Liara, she's a fan service character (my opinion only), and this is not a huge surprise.

Bishojo or not, it doesn't make it better
For a lot of people the statue looks hideous, wheather is by an accident, artist's failure or because it was on purpose.

Those people don't have to buy it. And if it's a lot of people like you said, and if the sales aren't good, we won't see anything like this ever again. So problem solved either way , right?
