Okay I have 2 quests to choose from to side with the templars or the mages but for some reason I can only do the templars quest when I mark the on loose straws I think it is quest to help the mage it doesn't show up on the map or anything why do I only have 1 choice not 2 I don't want to be with the templars

You get to choose who to side with in The Last Straw. Make sure you do any side quests before picking up that letter.

 On the Loose is a quest you do for meredith regardless of who you side with.

So you saying I don't make my choice yet? Just keep playing?

You can try and tell Meridith that you won't do it and she will blackmail you into do it. There is also a mage support act in the quest.
All best served cold (the next main quest) will be given by Orsino or Meridith depending on who you side with in the opening scene and as the other has said. Don't pick up the Last Straw letter before you are ready to finish the game.

You can't miss the choice.

Yes. your choice is at the end. When you do "the Last straw" quest and proceed to the gallows is when you make your choice, you need to do this quest along with another before the letter for the last straw shows up. As was stated make sure you do all other quests you want before accepting the letter, otherwise you cant go to the gallows without triggering the endgame.

Yeah I am doing the On the loose quest now is that a mandatory quest? I told her I don't want to do it but then my hawke sais I don't have a choice so I need to do it so do I get the choose after that?

yes it is a mandatory main quest in order to proceed, regardless of how you awnser. but even after that youll get another quest before you get the quest to make your choice.

You get to make the final choice in the Last straw. Also if you are a mage supporter Orsino will give you the next main quest. If you are a mage supporter. On The Loose is Meridiths attempt to sway you to her side and prove that she is right.

Okay I haven't beaten this game but it sounds like I am close I am so sad lol had such a blast so far good fun thank you for not spoiling the ending for me and also thank you for all your help
