Just make her arms a bit less noodley (A BIT) and make the boob-plates less "busty". Purfect.

What Ash is wearing here kind blurs the line between armor and clothes. I'm sure it provides some plating, being 2186 and all. Not sure if I support the miniskirt and stockings, but meh.

Serious question, but why even have armor? Since you have shields and barriers capable of withstanding rocket blasts, wearing armour is just something to slow you down.

I think the same way at times constantly Military values defense for troops, but also highly values maneuverability. Kinetic Barriers would be a miracle for the military as it would allow them to be very manuverable, but give them the defense they need.

This is where I am a bit conflicted. I am all for choice, so I would be happy to have both the rubber armor and the armor. However once we do that where does it end? Will bioware start releasing silly outfits just for the sake of choice? Will kaiden wear speedo's and a bowtie because the player watns too? Will Tali start wearing bondage gear? Will wrex wear lipstick and a dress?

Where do we start? Bioware games have offered the full spectrum of party control from Baldur's Gate where I have absolute party control to Jade Empire, where I have practically none. Mass Effect for example chose to feature armor and I still thought the end result was much worse than ME2.

I, personally, can't stand Phoenix armor. It was always the weakest and it looked horrible. Pink? Ew.
Come now. Finding matching sets of pink armor for the entire team was awesome.

We were all so pretty back then.
Garrus seriously lost his fashion sense in ME2. Walking around in broken armour the whole time? Definite faux-pas.

The only thing that bothered me about it was that it was her signature look, but it wasn't up to mid-range Scorpion armor levels.

That was the ONLY good thing about the pink armour. You could get a matching set, as long as you didn't mind the fact that wandering around in hot pink and white armour pretty much ruins any chance for camoflage.

Even then the Armor is pretty weak in the novels. Although I won't disagree that armor still helps.

Because shields don't stop everything. They're useful, yes, but also very limited. They're kinetic barriers, designed to stop small, fast moving objects. Shields don't do squat against relatively slower moving objects, like, say a melee weapon, or a thrown object. Shields will not protect you when the husks close with you.
In adition, kinetic barriers are ineffective against energy weapons or fire. Remember, it's the armor that protects the Normandy from the Collector cruiser's energy weapon attack. Not the shields.
Also, Shields are useless against enviromental effects. Extreme heat or cold. Toxins. Radiation. Vacuum. For that, an eviromentally controlled hardsuit with a sealable helmet is far more useful. Samara goes walking around on a world with a chorine atmosphere, she's gonna get chemical burns in very embarassing places.

I don't think it's a case of the armor being weak, but the weapons being that strong.

And I'm very happy about that (subject to actually seeing a screenshot of it, of course). 'Cause seeing Ash in that outfit sporting an assault rifle makes my brain hurt.

Same here.
I always thought it was silly that Ashley had white and pink Phoenix armor on Eden Prime, considering she's in the Alliance military. That Phoenix Armor might make sense if she was a mercenary or a pirate, but since she's military she should have looked the same as every other Alliance soldier. She should have had black or a camo pattern armor.
One of the first things I do when playing ME1 is swap out that Phoenix Armor for one that makes more sense for an Alliance Marine. (Oynx, Scorpion, ect)

TBH I doubt Bioware are going to be able to resist changing the chest piece. I fully expect something like FemShep/Liara's boob cups but I'm hoping that they'll restrain themselves to something like FemShep's ME2 slightly less obvious N7 armour instead.

Heres a thought, if your going to put Ash in that under the guise of sheilds put Kaiden in something similar for me please and thank you.
As a female gamer I am about damn tired of evrey female charecter going into battle with NO ARMOR it is beyond impracticel, and I find it degrading... if you are going to try to justify it by that remove the armor from the male charecters so I can have my fanservice to thank you.
