Use the Geth Pulse Rifle, that thing strips shields in excess of any other weapon, at a consitent rate, but you will need to specialise with the assault rifle on the Collector Cruiser to do so. Stick in Garrus's Tugsten Rounds for +70% damage to armour and you have a weapon that will strip shields and armour rather effectively, and opens up most enemies to biotics.

This is bad advice - while on paper, the GPR does good anti-shield damage for an AR, it's actually significantly worse than any of the submachine guns (which the Adept already has), including the Locust, against shields, and is inferior to both the Mattock and Vindicator against shields on account of their better stopping power. If you're specifically intending to pick up an anti-shield weapon as part of the Collector Cruiser choice, you'd be far better off going for the shotgun choice to pick up the Plasma Shotgun... otherwise you're best off sticking with the Locust or Mattock AR choice. There's no reason to pick the pulse rifle except for style reasons.

Indeed. The assault rifles are unfortunately quite poorly balanced, to the point where the Locust is a better AR than the GPR and Avenger.

This is true, which makes TonyGunslinger's run even more impressive in Object Rho, he uses shockwave Adept with Avenger!

Taking advantage of the pathing behind that pillar isn't really impressive, any class, or combination of weapons can do it like that I imagine.

this makes me sad. i HATE using the locust because its better then the GPR. i love the GPSs sci fi feel, but knowing i have another weapon thats better sitting in my pocket is not rewarding enough to be my bonus weapon.

What annoys me the most is the sound of the locust, which is the only reason I don't use it. It drives me insane.

Someone might think that the geth, who invented the thermal clips tech, have better weapons. But even Geth Primes use Revenants....

To be honest, I really don't understand why they bothered putting the GPR in the game. The fact its only available above a certain difficulty implies its supposed to be some kind of reward, but its characteristics mean that its largely no better than simply sticking with the Avenger.

The developers did mess up the assault rifles in this game - the only worthwhile choices in the class aren't actually assault rifles and somehow, these fully automatic weapons outside the Rev ended up being the lowest DPS dealers in the game - I've never understood that. This was largely the reason I started modding the game - I didn't see any good reason why the Revenant was only available to a single class considering it was largely just an Avenger upgrade. But then, my issues with ME2's design decisions could fill a book, so I won't go into them here :P

I think this is part of ME2's wider problems with consistency. It's never actually explained why the Geth use scimitars, firestorms and revenants rather than their own inventions, but hey ho.
