Too bad that pc has a way more popular download site that lets you download games faster and free.
On topic tho. Mass effect 3 will once again see why every game that is not heavily multiplayer focused should skip pc release or delay it atleast 3 months. It will sell even less on pc than the second one did. I will be happy to post how **** the simultaneous players numbers on steam are if this game is even released through steam.
Dunno why you came up with your idea in the first place, and frankly, (as a PC game veteran) I don't care. However, softwares like Steam or Origin are just the biggest crap people could've come up with regarding PC gaming. That said, I boycott every PC game which needs to have a Steam Account. ...So I don't give anything about Steam numbers because anyone who cares for developers and their games would be better off leaving Steam aside.

Troll OP is unable to figure out that even if his ridiculous number of 180k ME2 games sold to PC was anywhere near the correct figure, and if we even grant the ridiculous dev percentage royalty of 30% to every pc game sold, that gives us ~16 bucks per game.
http://uk.games.ign....8/708972p1.html
That's ~3 million bucks right there.
Ridiculous Troll OP is saying that Bioware should forget to earn 3 million bucks.
Stupid Troll is Stupid.
And should be banned.

Pc will never again be number 1 thought in developers minds and for a good reason. Only way it is if the they make MMO but even that market is too crowded.

Yep and it didn't cost them anything to spend all the time on development and testing etc...
Hell even today they have to spend money on support and patching. Pc is the worst when it comes to support and testing since there are hundreds of different sw and hw combos. Besides most of the people crying have issues *drumroll* WITH THE PIRATED VERSION OF THE GAME!
Now you honestly think that those 180K persons would not have bought the game on consoles? or the 3+ million that pirated the game on pc.
Math may seem easy to you because you like leave most of the variables out of your calculations.

There you have it. Goes to show how you know absolutely nothing you are talking about.
That only shows the amount of people currently logged into Steam at the moment. You do realise that it is possible to play Steam games offline?
Steam customer base is crap because they have the option to steal everythin forexample Mass effect 3 over 3 million times. Rest of them just play 10 year old FPS games that have multiplayer.
ME3 isnt even out, and yet Steam users have already stolen 3 million copies? Where can I get one of them new fangled time machines from?
Even if you hose off your "facts" to get rid of the nasty stains before you present them to us, the stench alone lets us know exactly where you pulled them from. Then agani, trolls arent exactly reknowned for their hygenie, so maybe the stench is just your natural odour.

Yep because all of the people just turn of steamworks and play all their steam games offline
You know I meant mass effect 2. But seriously guys I didn't know there were so many people who are soooo deeply immersed in their little roleplaying worlds in these forums. The one
Anybody who is saying that those numbers make steam sales look good is delusional. Steam games are not selling big numbers if that is the most simultaneous players you can get with games requiring steamworks. Hell if those all would play only for 1 hour a day that would still make still less than 200K sold
Id used to be a pc developer exclusively after these numbers they will never again be!

So if a guy sells cars and tells you that well if you deliver me those cars and I sell them at half price in my shop we can make more money. You would immediately go for it? No matter you like it or not Gabe is promoting their own service and don't give ANY NUMBERS while doing so.
You sir, are really amusing. You're so clueless it's actually funny. I'd say stop comparing apples to oranges but that's more like comparing an apple to a whale or something.
With cars the cost of the material and manufacturing process of the actual piece is a lot more significant.
How should i put it so even someone like you understands.... well let's give it a try, though i will be oversimplifying it.
You finished the development of a new car model. How do you sell it? You first have to get the materials and actually make the car. Then you ship it to retailer. After that retailer sells it gets his share. In the end the customer ends up paying for all of it, but it still is quite a cost, and you HAVE to sell at a price above this cost to make a profit
You finished the development of a new piece of software. How do you sell it?
Retail distribution:
Get the boxes ready, with disc, manual etc. Then you ship it to retailer. After that retailer sells it gets his share, In the end the customer ends up paying for all of it, much like with cars, and you still HAVE to sell at a price above this cost to make a profit, BUT it is a lot lower cost compared to the price than with cars, and you can later remarket it to further decrease that cost with simpler/no box, no manual etc for cheaper distribution. This allows you to remain profitable with larger price cuts, but it at least can be compared to car sellng.
But here's the real cath:
Digital Distribution: You basically make an entry in a database allowing the customer to download and use the software, and generate a key for it. If it's through your own system you have to cope with the cost of maintaining it, if you sell throug a system owned by other they get their share. And that's it. You can cut the cost as much as you want because "making" a "new copy" of the piece of software, the thing you actually sell costs virtually nothing.

Just like to point out the obvious that i ripped you apart. You checked the title and **** your pants because deep in your hearts you know that is exactly what Bioware should do. Then you people come crying troll and post no holding arguments. I have showed you piracy and sales stats. Bioware is not focusing on pc anymore it is an after thought and the day that they will abandon it is coming. Just check what happened to Dragon age. First one was clearly made pc in mind but not the second since according to the developers they focused on consoles since that is where most of the sales came from and they are talking about the first game

Thanks for missing the point. Im talking about how Gabe is a sales man. He is promoting his service without showing any numbers. Basically just saying how if you give us the right to put it on discount on our store so we make much more money. Of coures the game sells more but how many of those buyers would have bought it with only a 10$ discount down the line.
It is easy for gabe to talk when they make 100% of the money because it is their service and this way they get the best deals to their stores. But when a developer is selling it pricetag of 49$ and then decides to go 25$ and steam takes its share it suddenly not so much money anymore.
