And you want something out of Shep's control to just suddenly and unavoidably snuff out someone Shep cares about?

So, we're back to you seeming to want an interactive but somewhat passive cinematic experience, and not a game; to wanting high drama instead of entertainment.

I'm sorry to hear that but it's still my money being dropped on this game and I want the most out of it, even if that is at your expense.

And that's what's wrong with you.

All I ask for is the OPTION.  I am not FORCING it on anyone.

My money's going into this, too.  There should be enough for both of us, not just you.

Why don't  you play something less violent?

Because shooting things is fun and I really like the universe/story/characters.  It's an investment at this point.

I'm arguing that I want will ultimately be to the benefit for more people than just myself, including many of my detractors. I'm arguing that I wnat will make the game better.

I think you realize that I caught you a contradiction and you're trying to save face.

Yes, you do, and thus you continue to prove my point.

I'm going to keep arguing against that kind of thing, if only out of spite.

Saph in a nutshell.

The reverse sums you people up as well: "Oh mighty BioWare, please don't take away my reptilian boyfriendo because I have the mental stability of a certain bald human biotic during her period."

Sunk costs fallacy.

It's not too late, Cheez. Go play the Sims.

Wait a minute. That's my money being dropped, too. I want the most out of it, which for me is a Rainbows and Butterflies ending.

And I definitely want it at Your expense now! I want you to suffer over my Rainbows and Butterflies. Why don't you go play something more violent and emo.

Only, spoiler alert:

It won't.

You wanna know why ME2 is my favorite game?  Because I can save the whole team.  That's what sets it apart from all the other squad-based space hero games for grown-ups.

But this is an assumption born of your personal experiences that lead you to the conclusion and enjoyment from those factors. You fail to grasp that the individual experiences and development of other people may infact, lead them to dislike those very elements you are so fond of, and they aren't just fooling themselves into thinking they don't like them.

Your overall premise seems to be "even if you say you don't like them, you actually do, because I say so" and that has no actual basis in fact or even analytical ability. It is unwarrented arrogance unsupported by the factual information presented.

Anytime you want to make something "better", it is subjective towards your own tastes, and will always be at the detriment of other people.

What you want will make the game contrived and break any sense of immersion.  That's what prescripted and unavoidable moments in games do.  What you want will give us DA2 in the ME setting, another game in which the player is forced to sit passively watching cutscenes over and over again during the most critical moments of the plot, instead of even being given the slightest illusion of her actions or the protagonist driving things foward or having any real influence.

On the other hand, excepting the sibling who gets ogre-slammed half an hour in, DA2 has no teammate deaths.

Well those people have inferior taste and I will not lower myself to their level or settle for what they want.

I want a game with depth, not just fantasy fulfillment.

I game like ME2 could have explored the "burden of command" in a different way than a film or novel by forcing the character to grow close to these people... and then forcing them to choose one to die.

I really am clinically mentally ill.

And having my period.

Perfect example though, as it happens in a cutscene, and you can't even try to stop it.

@Saphra I think you are mentally ill. You definitely have delusions of grandeur. Or maybe you are on your period. All the time!

Edit: Maybe you should have Kaiser run out to get you some tampons! Bwahahaha!
