Facepalm to you sir. It's not entitlement, it's just reason. He's allowed to argue what his version of a game that has a quality narrative is.

A peacfull man who wanted something better for his people but knew violence was a crude tool for progress. Yes he felt like a failure.
Okay fine Ghandi may not have been a pristine example for this discussion based on the fact that people have to pick every little thing appart like buzzads over a carcass. Fine I will give you an undisputable example of altruism in its finest... and succeeding.

- He was severely beaten several times. (for the same)
- He fought against the injustices leveled at the untouchables.
- He fought against the injustices leveled at women.
- He fought against Western automation which was destroying what little economy India had. He was trying to give Indians jobs.

If my testimony isn't good enough for you, how about a quote from Albert Einstein:
"You have shown through your works, that it is possible to succeed without violence even with those who have not discarded the method of violence. We may hope that your example will spread beyond the borders of your country, and will help to establish an international authority, respected by all, that will take decisions and replace war conflicts.
With sincere admiration,
Yours A. Einstein."

Just like all threads... pointless debates over things we cant change because BioWare will do what they want no matter how much we complain.

Renegade is at its worst when it is mindlessly assaulting people unprovoked. See Al'Jilani.

The people who want there to be a possibility for a playthrough in which Shepard and co. all live say their enjoyment of the story will be dampened by deaths of characters. Me and the people who share my views say that that our enjoyment of the story will be dampened if there is no character death. Both sides have legitimate points, and I definitely understand where each side is coming from.
However, the people who use the "entitlement" argument are being childish hypocrites, and the people who use the "we can both get what we want!" argument are apparently incapable of or not interested in understanding mutual exclusivity. Both of these games cannot exist simultaneously: Bioware will be making the decision to include a possibility for no deaths or to not include that possibility; it's not an issue that can be compromised on.
Now discuss away. I shall take my respectful leave of those who have respectfully and logically discussed their views, and my frustrated/exasperated leave of those who have shouted "entitlement!" and refused to acknowledge logic.

No not really... human history has shown that altruistic people have accomplished great deeds... these people come along very rarely and are the exception to the rules that society follows.
Shepard is that exception. Its an argument based around personal experince without taking the whole of human history into effect. Based on that I can not agree with the argument.

Okay, so unless I skimmed this page too quickly and missed the third so-called altruist, we now have two people who acted in their own interests, one of whom is the world's most well known pacifist.
Nelson Mandela's actions were "acts in own self interest" how?... I fail to see the logic behind calling him selfish.
