Ok heres my first tip to creating a fanbase from FanFict.net

1.  FREAKIN POST SOMETHING U SLACKER !!!

(I dont want any "formatting sux on that site".... yadda yadda yadda - excuses - its truly is one the the crapiest sites Ive had the misfortune to deal with)  the upside you have a ready made audience that are there to be spoon fed Zevran (or whatever)

JUST DO IT!

seriously that site is good for developing a following - another one is the Kmeme site - its not ALL porn - some fluffy stuff too.

I find forums/blogs/websites for some reason differ from place to place its damn annoying - I used to be able to just copy and past into notepad and then copy and paste that to where I wanted to post it and it was sufficient.... but not anymore.

and do smaller posts if you have to - break them up.

My Lord of the Rings series Book of Gwynyyth was a post per day thing - sometimes I would be able to write a vast amount of story and other days not - so I would find a place to split it up into smaller lengths. I soon found sometimes I was weeks ahead in posts.

To be truthful - sometimes I dont want to sit down and read 5k words of a story - I would rather read 1-2k and move on... the flipside of that is you have large amounts of chapters when you are complete. Another thing I often do is avoid FanFict that is more than 10 chapters right now - if you do that you have to make sure you hook your audience very early on - like any large book.

Only two and half weeks late, and the chapter 15 of Failed to Fail,  Face Value is already up! Am I not ridiculously awesome? 


But it's clear now I can't fulfill this committment - not me, nor my beta have enough time. Can I change it so that I'll post new story to my Ice and Leather series here on my blog?

@ Klidi - Good question. I know I've been writing lots of stuff outside of my committed story (especially this week, for some reason)

@ Bloodsong & everybody - Are we looking for only the originally stipulated stories, or would it be okay for us to just post links to what we have actually written this month? I know I've written a couple things I wouldn't mind posting in this thread, but didn't want to go outside of what I had originally 'promised'. (Not I'll stop writing that story either, personally, but I completely understand when other people find themselves drawn to a different project than they originally thought they'd be able to do)

@ Klidi & TK - I have been - I have so many random stories going on - I only dont count the PROMPTS as my commitment fill - not sure why /shrugs

tryyn's right, it's just for motivational fun. okay, here, i confess... i just did this so *I* would be forced to post once per week. because on my own, not having people hanging over my shoulder looking for it... i slack. :X you're all part of my nefarious self plan!!

whatever is going on, i have been writing a lot more than i usually do in a week. i'm happy about this. i hope you guys are getting more done and are happy about that. whether it is posted here, or there, or not yet... me, i'm over here writing stuff out that happens 7 years down the road in the story. that sure ain't gonna get posted this week :X

this is a self-motivational course. if you're slacking on one story and wanted to use this pact as an excuse to get yourself focussed on that story... then NO, you can't go switching to another one! there, now was that motivational? if you're just gonna stress and blow up, then yeah, you can switch. ;D

triple crap, because i went down into the garage and dug around in the trash for 20 minutes, and i didn't find the blasted writing!

however... i DID find the short notes on the first page of the next part, and realized there wasn't as much cut off as i thought. so... actually, i managed to reconstruct it, put it back together, and heck, i posted a day early.

LOL Bloodsong - I think we're cut from the same mold or something *snickers*

Oh and I never actually played Assassins Creed 1 - the jumping looked hard - I suck at jumping in DDO and so I thought my skill (or lack of would frustrate me) 

However I watched Prince of Persia - Sands of time and kinda really like liked Dastan and was impressed with his jumping/athletic prowess - I then found out it was a game but didnt buy it - instead bugged my son to let me play his AC2 & AC3 Brotherhood which is kinda the same for jumping (liked this the best coz I got to blow up towers  ) I luv being Ezio - my only sadness is I cant RP him

Interestingly I bought the Original Prince of Persia - luvd it up until they wanted me to go around collecting freaking power seeds or some BS - I just wanna do the story and see the Prince fall in luvs with tha Princess

So Im halfway thru that and prolly wont do any more

but bueno!!

ac2 is MUCH harder with the jumping than ac1, yo. omg, it took me like 2 hours to figure out the running wall jump, and i had to read directions on a cheat site on how to do it. ac1 just have regular jumping.

the jumping stuff in assassin's creed is very easy. if you're like me and come from a platformer background, it will at first drive you nuts. in platformers, you got to get your feet at the right spot and hit the jump button at the exact right time... in ac, you have to remember the character does all that FOR you. so you just run and he does it. only problem is steering. i have a dual analog controller i play it with. its a little twitchy on the left/right while running. that... and seeing where you're going and if you can actually REACH the next roof or you're gonna land in the street 5 storeys below :X

meanwhile, its late friday... and i THINK me, tryyn, tk, and dre are ahead of the game.

I found AC2 very easy - AC3 a bit trickier - I was told AC1 had lots of bugginess

I do not have a platformer background - but DDO - it is all about being in the right spot and timing etc and yea I suck - AC2 was a breeze for me - I just pointed him where I wanted to go and pressed the button and VOila - I luv the sneaking across rooftops and jumping and running and jumping and diving off tall buildings with that *whistle sound*

... and then he speaks... and I faint ahhhhh *swoons*

Scaling towers creeped me out - Id get all the way to the top and be so scared EZio would fall and break his pixels - serious stuff and nerve wracking.

I did make it this week but I wanted to get in something that I ACTUALLY wrote this week and not pre-wrote - its a persoanl challenge thing - but it was Friday for me yesterday but I still did make it

Do we win Internet Cookies at the end of this if we successfully post each week ???

at least half a score. before anyone complains, i have THREE whole reasons that i only posted half the post for this week.

1: there was a holiday.
2: i was sick.
3: my write/type ahead queue is getting VERY small. my hero, whuffie, told me that to keep blog followers happy, i should post regularly. so, hey, if i cut a post in half to be able to post for two weeks instead of all at once for only one... that's a good thing, see?

ahem.

depending on how next week goes, i might post the second part at the beginning of the week. then the new part at the end.
