Finally looks good, it's tad out of context so I won't be dissing the story just yet.

Assuming that the Alliance is even aware of the importance of the Omega 4 relay - which is a big leap - it's not like they can really do anything to stop Cerberus from going into the relay as they please. They can't follow them inside without the IFF, and the Omega 4 relay is deep in Terminus territory.

It's not in any way a leap that the Alliance know the importance of the Relay.  It's well known that the Omega 4 relay leads to the collector's base, they know the collectors are attacking human colonies, they know Shepard was planning to take down the collectors.  There's no good reason that Shepard wouldn't have given them access to the IFF, and doing nothing while allowing Cerberus to freely establish a series of bases is just stupid.

It does feel somewhat out of context but I'm not one to judge just yet. When is the first issue coming out again?

So you're basing the Alliance's knowledge and IFF possession on the idea that Shepard would want to tell them. Hm. What's wrong with that? Oh, yeah.

There's plenty of good reason for Shepard not tell them about the IFF if he's on Cerberus' side. Sure, in ME3, he has to fight them, but before that they haven't overtly attacked him yet. If Shepard told them about Cerberus' actions, it would mean that he doesn't support Cerberus, which would make the ending of ME2 where he balks off Cerberus and TIM canon, which would ****** everybody right the **** off.

No one else has the reaper IFF, that allows safe passage through the Omega 4 relay.

Firstly, Shepard does.  And mine at least would certainly be willing to share with Council, Alliance, STG or the adorable new Shadowbroker.

Secondly, you don't need to be able to go through the relay to stop everyone else going through it.

If I am to understand your complaint correctly, the onus lies on Aria and no one else. Mac Walters confirmed that "Invasion" takes place "after Arrival and before Conviction", I believe, unless I am recalling his line incorrectly.

If so, Shepard's a bit predisposed. Aria's made a decision and will have to live with the consequences.

No.

He confirmed that Deception is between those 2, not Invasion.

Thanks. My memory is a bit fuzzy today. I'm forcing myself to learn several years worth of math I never had the opportunity to learn conventionally in the period of a single month. In-universe dates in the Mass Effect franchise are suffering a bit in my poor brain.

October 25th... I think.

Mesina can confirm or deny. I need a brief nap. :P

EDIT: October 19th is when it's on sale according to the preview's cover.

Cerberus' actions don't appear to be noticably covert, and the Alliance and Council have no excuse for not knowing the significance of the Omega relay.  Them allowing Cerberus, a declared enemy of theirs, to get set up there is just stupid.

Ah, I see the issue now.

Well... Omega is deep into the Terminus. The Alliance could try to pull something but they'd have to get around the Council to do so. The Council... would probably sooner bolster defenses around its borders and do little else.

At least, you'd acknowledge that Shepard not telling the Alliance would be equally problematic?

The stories are created by Mac Walters. The comic scripts themselves are penned by one John Jackson Miller. There is certainly a substantial degree of collaboration involved but Walters relies on Miller to write the issues in a manner deemed 'comic' for lack of a better term offhand.

This is why when Walters writes individual dialogue scenes in ME1 and ME2, they often feel a bit... better than what we traditionally see in these comics. Those of us who aren't big fans of Miller's 'this is a comic' approach will be turned off by it. The core stories behind these comics are not bad IMO, though they are tired. It is how they are presented which is the problem for folks like us.

For those who love the style, more power to you, though! I can dig to an extent. Not wild about it but they seem to be getting somewhat better over time.

Bah, and I had planned not to voice my precise feelings, just present the news.

Haha, Wrex in Genesis can only be summed up in internet vernacular as "XFD".

The dialog is so bad. I don't know if my standards get different on comics, I mean, the writer is the same on the games, but the narrative and that dialog just don't fit so well in the comics, I don't know. Evolution was bad, had some good moments, I think overall was was wasted potential, maybe I need to see more of this.

The plot itself doesn't seem bad, getting to know more about what Cerberus is doing on Omega 4 relay.

Well, yes and new. The scripter is not Mac Walters. It's John Jackson Miller. He is the one responsible for all the dialogue in the comics. Except "Conviction", which was rather short and I don't remember seeing Miller's name on it. Same with the other short one, featuring Bailey.

I sure hope Cerberus was just overrun behind the Omega 4 Relay.

Don't like the idea that TIM is behind all this stuff, for it would shift his alignment to evil and he really has to stay in the grey area to remain the awesome character he is.

If I had to venture a guess, I would say because TIM didn't have a fleet, and wanted the base for himself.

Right all, Suposition, We know that he has more Ships maybe not an entire fleet, but sending five extra Ships along the normandy could have prevented the Crash on the Base.

Who cares if it's supposition? As for the ships, I'm assuming you refer to the salvage teams that are seen in the "easter egg" Shepard dies + Collector Base is captured ending. Those don't look anything like any human warship design we've ever seen before, so it is reasonable to assume that they are not warships.

I do have to wonder what cargo ships would try to survive an attack by a swarm of oculi, though....
