What, you mean like in the real military? For the record, I also fully expect Shepard to yell "Frag out!" when throwing grenades. You know, so Ashley and Vega know to keep their heads down and not charge ahead.

I'm going to say this so everyone understands. Bioware will probably release another Super bowl Trailer like they did last time. Here is the reason why? They want this game to sell more than any other game has sold. Plus they are making a female shepard trailer so their marketing team isn't messing up.

Let me make this very clear. They only made that trailer to shut fans up for a bit. To give you a small piece of the pie to let you know what you starting to get into. Its like a piece of a really great pie your grandma makes. She's cooking it for you, but you are hungry. To make you want it more she gives you a small piece from the stove so you can enjoy it. Once the pie is done fully baking she sets it out on the stoves and watches you look at it till its cooled a bit. Once you finally get the pie and after all that waiting its the best damn pie you have ever eaten.

Bioware's doing the Grandma's pie scenario. They've made two Mass Effect games already. They've done their homework. They know what they want in the game.

gammameggon chill out, calm down and relax. Once ME 3 comes out your going to regret not having those pre-order goodies. Hell, I'm getting ME 3 preorder from Gamestop and I've got the collector's edition coming in the mail.

I've played the first game all the way to the second game. I've never completed a game without playing the first game first. I'm truly hooked for Mass Effect 3 and I will not doubt ME 3 designers and programmers who are slaving away right now to make this game the best damn one Bioware has ever made.

Besides DA 2 had a different team and I think they learned their lesson from the second game. They are making DA 3 and will probably improve upon it. Be more open minded and you might enjoy things more.

Now if you'll excuse me everyone. I've got a clock to go stare at until Mass Effect 3 comes out.

The trailers for ME and ME2 were released really close to their release dates. That ME3 trailer was shown at E3, and there's still a ton of time left before it releases.

They'll have more epic trailers coming.

I make assessments on each individual game based off of how its being marketed, especially when a company is trying to attract fans from a genre I do not like and therefore don't play. So far, I'm not impressed from what I know about this game on many, many levels...and I have a bucket of concerns. I'm holding out hoping to be surprised, but I don't expect too much...it'll be even more of a tps than before. Add in the Halo/Call of Duty and Gears of War elements....uh, no thank you.

Also, let's not forget the earth-centric plot. Yay...we get to save earth again from aliens! Only the 1 millionth time now!

Marketing has done zero to alleviate my fears, only reaffirm them.

Exactly. Even in Gears of War Marcus yells "Fire in the hole!" when throwing a grenade.

I thought a better marketer will be more apt. David Silverman has been telling that past decisions don't matter and ME3 is a good entry point for newcomers to the series. I have a hard time digesting that.

Sometimes I wish money wasn't the goal.

I would prefer it if Mass Effect 3 was made by ME fans, for ME fans, who have played all ME's. Sadly, not the case.

They are going to need that money anyway, after losing millions to the blackhole that is SWTOR.

The game would never come out, if that happened. Too many different opinions.

I'll be honest. When I first saw the ME2 trailers, this was before I ever heard about Mass Effect, i thought it was another generic space shooter, I really did.
It was only after playing the original Mass Effect when i was bored did I actually see what it was about
so yeah, bioware really needs to get their marketing sorted. Something tells me they're going to show ME3 as this action packed, marine solider shooter, wow-explosions adventure to save Earth all in the name of AMERICA!

I've read some interesting articles on how the gaming industry is getting flooded by shooters and more and more gamers are being isolated and that genre malaise is distorting and exhausting gamers.

BioWare will never get the casual CoD player....I've seen many and a lot if them are punks who don't give a rats end about nothing other than being in a map shooting at others online and cussing out their opponents.

Why don't they begin to market how ME3 gameplay isn't like ME2 dlc?? Because I've been hearing a lot about it in many previews.

I think they could attract Halo players fairly easily without sacrificing anything. Halo players are generally open to a good sci-fi story. However, trying to win CoD players over with a story-based RPG? Not possible. Most CoD players I know haven't played the campaign before because multiplayer is 'better' (it is in that case...)

Some good points there Zak.

One interesting thing I've noted in some men I've met who play games (or call themselves gamers anyway)... many of them literally own 1 or 2 games and they just use their console literally to play those 1 or 2 games for years on end (just replacing them with their annual sequels).

Guess which 2 games they are?

Call of Duty & Madden.

A whole bunch of these guys own a console and those are the only games they own (1 or the other... sometimes both)... they have zero interest in any other game... and these guys are COMMON... they're not outliers or something. The Xbox or PS3 is just their "Madden" machine... or their "COD" machine, that's it... they have no interest in other games and most certainly no interest in a single focused player game.

I'm convinced a lot of people who play the COD series (or Madden and some other sports titles) play literally just those games and nothing else - nor do they have any interest in other games.

I think that's part of why Bioware won't ever win over the COD crowd... chiefly because a good chunk of them have no care for other games at all (not blaming them... if those games are what entertain them, so be it)... but I'm truly dubious that Bioware will ever have any meaningful chance of drawing those people to their own games.

I am sleep deprived, so I will decidedly keep this short.
Is it me, or is marketing for Mass Effect getting lamer and lamer?

Here is the Mass Effect TV commercial. If I wasn't poor at the time, it would have been sold instantly. You don't have to comprimise emotional impact for action, as seen here.

This one is pretty damn good, I enjoyed it. A little too spoilery, but it would have sold me.

And the big epic is here and the trailer is... lame? Call me crazy, but if I saw this without hearing about ME before, I wouldn't care. Gears of War with holograms. Shep's quote was... kinda bad.

I expect few people to agree with me. I understand we have a few months to go, so I haven't lost faith or anything. I just find it odd that heavy metal music is being mixed with a story about the death of all life as we know it.

I agree with you.  But I read somewhere that they plan to use the new chick version of shepard for me3 ads.  So they'll probably advertise towards adolesant teens so expect some, "she'll deadly but hot" adverts:pinched:

According to the last Youtube link provided by the OP, that trailer had 331,862 views, 1,737 likes and only 33 dislikes.

Speaking as an individual, I thought it was very well done.

Did you know that the ME3 trailer breaks the game's own lore?

Watch the part where the Alliance marine is firing the M-98 Widow rifle.

What the? The codex clearly stated that a normal human would not be able to fire even Shepard's version without shattering an arm (Vega is big, but he is a normal human).

Marketing is not a big deal to me, as simple product information (traditional advertising) has a much stronger effect on me than any sort of "marketing hype".

There are those who consider the marketing campaigns for things to be a major part of the experience I suppose.

A bit to late but...

I wish the voice actor from the trailer of ME1 was the actual voice actor for Shepard. Few words but so much better then Meer's boring apathetic voice.

I don't think that will stick. Fan made games ususally don't turn out anywherre as spectacular as professionally made games eg. Painkiller resurrection was a really boring game and if I remember, it started as fan made game.

First off, one of the reasons my canon Shep never uses the Widow is that very reason. I'm getting a little miffed at the "Mary Sues" creeping in to the game about Shep, such as how he/she woke up despite sedation in Arrival.

That said: Where is it written that Vega is a normal human?

Speaking of indoctrination....just preordered my collector's edition today ; ).

I agree though, they really need something that hits home, instead of trying to sell it as action packed. Make it look incredibly deep and scary, and people will want to get it. Hell, that's why I picked up ME in the first place. Saw the sovereign conversation and nearly shat myself; said "damn I gotta play this out."

160 hours of gameplay on ME1 and ME2 later, here I am.....Hundreds(?) of posts on the BSN....:wizard:

Shepard has cybernetics and prosthetics all over his body, he is by no means a "normal" human anymore. The reason I believe he is able to use the Widow is because of the bone weave/lattice shunting/etc.

Vega wasn't a lazarus project. He doesn't have cyborg bones.

Well, the writers could introduce a change in the lore stating that the Widow was modified further after Geth collaboration with humans (considering Legion is working with you) so as to make it useable although less lethal (considering that squaddies deal 45% less damage, it can fit into the lore).

WELCOME to the 2011, friend.

Bioware is not the same company. it's all about getting the stupid casual player morons to buy. So do not be surprised.
