Did you know that the ME3 trailer breaks the game's own lore?
Watch the part where the Alliance marine is firing the M-98 Widow rifle.
What the? The codex clearly stated that a normal human would not be able to fire even Shepard's version without shattering an arm (Vega is big, but he is a normal human).[
Well, the writers could introduce a change in the lore stating that the Widow was modified further after Geth collaboration with humans (considering Legion is working with you) so as to make it useable although less lethal (considering that squaddies deal 45% less damage, it can fit into the lore).
Also, it's just a ****ing trailer. Not even a gameplay trailer.

The real marketing campaign has not yet begun. Once they have a finished product marketing will go into full swing - sure - a good bit before that too. But let's be honest - if you bought ME1 &2 then chances are you will buy ME3. This particular group of BSN forumites will very likely buy the game. I preordered my Collectors Edition months ago. Ergo the marketing will not really be for us - but moreso for others who know nothing about the game so that they can get more and more people interested.

That, and weapons are modified all the damn time. Makes sense that they can come up with a version that a normal person could use, given the weapon's effectiveness.
It'd be practically worthless to use against krogans if nobody but krogans and other abnormal creatures (like the geth) can use it with some efficiency and not hurt themselves.

I enjoyed all 3 trailers. ME3 is not finished - the other trailers came out when those games were complete. Do not be judging a game that is not even near completion yet for not having the same quality of trailer. Thats like shooting yourself in the foot. Or judging a book by its cover before it is even written.

Marketing will be at full swing, but Modern Warfare 3 and the much higher quality Battlefield 3 will have the shooters in isolation LOCKDOWN and hundreds of hours of multiplayer.
Likewise, many role playing fans like myself will be completely engrossed and absorbed into the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours of their first The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim playthrough.
BioWare has their release in March so the behemoths just mentioned will be winding down, but dlc/expansions will be coming and I'm not sure I will even be done with my first Skyrim playthrough by then.
I'd pay closer attention if I wasn't so disheartened by what I see, and with a tight I'm not spending $60 on a game I'm orgy about, even from a series I love but fear is spiraling downward at its most important time.
The trailers I see don't even feel like the Mass Effect IP. At all. How can I be excited and just expected to buy, especially after Dragon Age 2? For me, I'm skeptical but hopeful Mass Effect 3 won't be what I fear its going to be.
That's even more of a shooter and weakening the Reapers. And saving earth.
Yuck, I can't even say any more...

Not to pick, but comparing the TV commercial for ME1 (right before launch) and the launch trailer for ME2 (again, right before launch) both with finished assets to a trailer made, what maybe 10 months before game launch is hard;y fair to the "marketing" of ME3.
Yes, if that was the only trailer or TV commercial or whatever between annoucne and launch on March 6, THEN you would have some grounds to complain about how the video wasn't great. So how about you save the "marketing is bad" criticism of trailers until you have actually seen what will be available? Then, should you not like what marketign comes up with, then you can dish out out lumpos and we'll take 'em as delivered.

Still, just seeing what all of the ME3 demos/trailers/promotions have seemed to focused on action, action, action, and less story. Though, like you said, Chris, you guys really haven't put anything else out yet and deserve at least some slack until something else is out there between now and March 6th.
I'll just shut my mouth on the subject for now and watch.
One last thing, I hope I'm completely, unquestionably, absolutely wrong about you guys and what you're doing with the series over at Bioware. I honestly do.

You can only market what's in the game, though...it makes for many a narrow corridor and shooting to be marketed. Where oh where did exploration go? It obviously isn't there, or it would have been marketed by now. I haven't seen one thing based upon exploration yet. I see plenty of narrow paths with cutscenes/loadscreens breaking up the fast-paced, non-stop shooting.
That's not necessarily true. For instance, I see nothing wrong with... bending the truth regarding the game's story, in order to generate a little bit of hype. And I consider that to be more ethical than dropping spoilers left and right about what will actually happen.

In the end, I just want to be like this when Mass Effect 3 comes out, and not like this.

If I trusted Bioware/EA marketing I would not have bought Dragon Age: Origins because it would have been a hack-and-slash with people jumping around headshotting others with arrows to Marilyn Manson music with SEX! and VIOLENCE! and THIS IS THE NEW ****! being taglines. Suffice to say it was not the case in actual gameplay. Cold hard info on ME3 so far is almost all improvements from ME2, so no worries there.
I was informed that I would get to "fight like a Spartan" in Dragon Age II.
Tell me, when was the last time you saw anything like THIS in that game?

Let's all just buy ME3 and celebrate/commiserate as necessary once we've finished it.

Admittedly, all of the trailers/gameplay demos have showed a lot of the same areas. Can't have it both ways though.

Concerning marketing the ME1 launch trailer lied to me! I was promised a game where I could let entire planets be consumed by war and instead got only to pick which squadmate survives, the death of the Council, the genocide of the Rachni. Where are the doomed planets I was promised in the trailer??!!!??? I was expecting evolving missions like in Ace Combat and instead got an immersive story.
At least the ME2 launch trailer was far more truthful, with the exception of "sunny" Tchuchanka......Where was my fighting through the stomach of a Thresher Maw?
Bioware has always been lacklustre with their marketing, often focusing on the wrong things. Maybe it is best that way actually.........come for the sex stay for the brains.
