I've tried to install Alternate Appearance Pack 2 & Arrival...both packs want to install the ME1.02 update before anything else...but I've already got it installed, and the installation process always hangs while it's trying to install the 1.02 update in both. It did this even before I had 1.02 installed.
What is going on? Help please.

System Summary
Intel® Core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz
Clock:2119 MHz
Physical Mem: 2,92 GB
Display Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 310M Vram:512 MB
Display version: 189.11
Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) 6.0.1.5969
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
DirectX 10.0 (Mar2009) or later
I am not in the game in any way. I try to install Alternate Ap Pack2 and/or Arrival DLC. The Installer loads fine, and begins to install, but always hangs on the Mass Effect 1.02 installation that each DLC Pack wants to install. As I said, I already have it (1.02), but the problem occurred even before I installed 1.02.

Are you running the installers with admin rights?
Sometimes, depending on the Win7 configuration, it also needs to be run under XP compatibility mode.
It does "hang" momentarily (status bar doesnt move, hard drive light flickers) while installing the patch, but it shouldnt take more than a couple of seconds if you already have the patch installed.
If you bring up the task manager, does it state that the installer has stopped responding, or does it show it as working?
Also, what version of the game do you have? Steam, Origins, Disk, other download?

Yes, I am running them with full admin rights. The task manager states that its 'running', but in the Processes window - the Mass Effect 1.02.exe file is stalled at 56kB of installation, while the Arrival DLC is at 2345kb and the CPU only puts 1-2% into the thing every minute or so... what the frak?! Bioware, I want my points back! I didn't have these problems with the other DLCs, so why do these two not work?

Bioware isn't here, not most days. It's just gamer to gamer here. Official support is from EA, linking from their column at the bottom center of every page.

Its entirely possible that the files were corrupted somehow during the download. Things that can cause corruptions include, but arent limited to;
Wireless networking, power fluctuations, antivirus programs, browser add-ins, download accelerators, Windows having "that time of the month", the list goes on.
I would suggest dleteing those files, clearing your browser cache, and then attempting to download them a second time, preferably with a clean installed browser that has no add-ins. Opera and Chrome have proven to be the 2 most reliable browsers for this purpose.

Also a question, have you moved your documents folder from the stock location?? IE, have you made it a root drive or some such?
