Well for all those who don't care about realism, then go play bayonetta, or dead or alive. Mass effect should have some realism about it. High heels and lack of armor degrades what mass effect is. For all those who don't understand likely well never understand

I'm honestly stuffed with the so called "realism" discussions. No, I don't give a damn about realism. I'm not playing a simulator of future infantry battle, I'm playing a goddamn casual shooter videogame here and I absolutely don't mind high heels in those.

QFT.
Funny how most whiners only demand realism when it comes to female looks, boobs, high heels etc etc. When they are totally fine with the other 239 things that dont make any sense whatsoever. Like how biotic coated bullets work for example.

But NOOOO! Miranda cant swing an axe around with that boob size! *Retarded explanation why she cant* OMG MY REALISM!!!

I know, right?
****ing realism went out the door long before High Heels and tights clothes came in.

Every time I look at those heels, it makes me shudder. Shoes that make feet look that grotesque should never grace the feet of a beautiful woman. It's not just unrealistic to wear them while engaging in any kind of physical activity, it's thoroughly unhealthy and doesn't even look good.

Also high heels appear to have gone out of fashion. When I walk down the streets, I rarely see a woman wearing anything higher than two inches. It's only the media industry that retains this remnant of a time where a woman needed to show that she needn't work.

Yeah, but...
No, but...

Well, it is a game and doesn't really matter, I mean it's not hard SF or anything. But a lot of the female outfits in games are ridiculous, let's pretend they're special space-heels.

Samara's heels seem to function as weapons.

Agreed.  Unity, with the proper upgrades, is capable of truly high heals.  It has saved my Shepards' lives on countless occasions, and features a reasonably short cooldown to boot.  I guess people will always find something to complain about, though.

I also dislike the high heels, but they are there for a reason not just to make miranda's outfit more ridiculous. The high heels ensure characters of all heights stand around the same so that cutscenes and the like can be rendered without errors.

Lets say miranda is without heels, and you grab her at the end of the collector cutscene. Due to her shorter height than say... Thane. When shep grabs her, you would be grabbing empty air, but the cutscene would continue like normal. It would be all out of sync.

The easiest fix for them was to add in high heels (or in some cases platformer shoes)

I agree that the outfits have been taking things far away from what mass effect was, which makes me sad, but not all of it is for the reasons you think.

^^^

Also pretty sure i read a dev saying heels on females are there to make their rigs taller so conversations and animation interactions work right as most female rigs are smaller than males.

So its not really a realism thing, but rather a gameplay thing.

Anyone who bought stock in Medi-Gel companies will be pretty happy though.

The Circle of Space Clerics vs. Sirta Foundation; it's the Circle of Magi vs. Templars in space!

And you all say the LP was absurd.
It was Miranda who resurrected Shepard. It just took her 2 years to scan for the rare components needed for a full and proper resurrection.

Fixed that. :P

Really, people can talk with each other face to face even if they've different heights, also Samara is rather tall in the first place. That argument is far-fetched.

My take on this:

Clearly seperate in-fire and out-of.fire apparel. That means the ladies can wear whatever they (BioWare) want in their leeway time, but once they go on missions, I want proper armor whose primary function is to to protect and definetely NOT to showcase any assets the character might exhibit and are practical in critical conditions, which means NO high heals but good solid army boots.

As far as I know Bioware are already aware of this.

I myself wrote a large essay on the subject in the ME2 forums when the Devs were trying to explain away the lore breaking inconsistancies in the gameplay with the "iconic looks".

Fighting in high heels wouldnt be possible for any length of time.

They ought to slow Miranda down and get her shot and killed, or she ought to have broken her ankle many many times running around the way she does.

There is a little thing called the fourth wall, and Miranda, Jack, Samara, and Thane all break it in game every single time you bring them to battle just by being there in those ridiculous outfits.

BW announced that in ME3 companions would have "realistic combat friendly" looks for when they are off the shop in areas expecting combat; and casual outfits that they would wear in situations were they didnt expect battle or for on the Normandy.
So expect no more high heels in combat.

I'd like to have a look at this essay.

Same here. The two things that I thought were the dumbest was the Heat clip lore and how some of your squadmates were clearly in hostile environments yet didnt have proper armor lol.

Armor is for battle, hooker wear should be saved for playtime.

Simple fix have another outfit with armor and let players decide what they want them to wear.
