I suspect you'd feel a tad awkward too playing a game if every male (assuming you're a male) in the game walked around in skin-tight pants with a bulging package, excessively tight shirt showing their muscled torsos, etc.

You mean just like Jacob...
Just awfull.

You see what I mean then... now amplify that 2 to 3 fold and you see why some women are a touch annoyed at how some of our female squad members compose themself in their attire. ;)

Though I don't want to make a big deal out of it... as I said before, I get over it pretty quick and I'm a realist, I know most of the people who play this game are men and they want their eye candy. :P

I am a straight men and still had to nearly vomit when it came to the famous ass shots of miranda. Cheap and distgusting, completely tasteless.

I prefer the direction of ME1 when it came to combat and ship-board attire. It was more organic and realistic to me, and it allowed for player freedom to kit their team out with different armors that they wanted their team to use. Even color coordinating them. I have nothing against 'iconic' looks, but when 'iconic' looks mean that women must wear sexploitative and suggestive attire that cannot be changed while men still get armored from head to toe (Thane only showed partial chest but still had a long coat, not even comparable), then it enters a realm of sexualization and exploitation for one particular audience demographic and says to the others that they're not as welcome to play in this world.

ME2's high heels, low belly-cut boobsuits, camera butt cleavage conversations, suspender harnesses passing for shirts... all while in combat situations? I don't care how good shields/barriers are supposed to be. It is ridiculous and irritating. If there ARE to be iconic costumes/looks, then please at least make them empowering for both men and women.

I sooooo agree with this!

One of the reasons I fell in love with ME 1 was that it did not make a mockery of women. The new "art" direction implies women are only good for one thing - "eye candy" and/or sex toys for the oh, so many males who don't understand that this kind of treatment of female characters only serves to reinforce real world problems for women. We are constanly told/shown our only worth is in our looks.

It's really disheartening to see Bioware jump onto this bandwagon.

Absolutely agree with you both!

I'm not seeing Femshep in high heels though. (Except maybe for the Kasumi Loyalty Mission)

There's no thing practical about ME when you have military grade armors that have colors like the phoenix no one that calls himself a soldier would be caught dead wearing something that screams''hey here i am shoot at me'.'White red and pink what is it a clowney cake?

I think those of us who play FemShep would raise hell if they tried to pull that. Since the player has to identify with the PC somehwhat to lose themselves in roleplay, I think BioWare knows better than to push any ho gear on FemShep players. The little black dress was okay/laughable for one mission, but otherwise? No thanks. I like my armor. :)

Yeah the dress was ok but reaaally felt out of place for my Shep personally..... my Shep in some ways always was like me, I'm not a dress & heels kinda gal... more into practical, simplistic wear, sweaters, track pants, etc... so was kind of stunned when I first saw her in the dress on the Kasumi mission.. was thinking "Evelyn wouldn't dress like tha... oh.... well.. ok I guess it sorta makes sense now... but still..." I naturally swapped back into her casual Cerberus wear ASAP aboard the Normandy.

Oh! And supposedly the collectors edition of ME3 comes with a N7 hoodie for Shep to wear on the Normandy. :o ... I basically squeed at that news, as I love to personally wear hoodies... they're so cozy and comfy and it feels like just the thing that my Shep would wear too... that's going to be such a delightful little treat for me in the game.

On a vaguely related note, this my lucky hoodie here...

Image IPB

It literally saved my life 5 years ago (long story... basically though it staunched a gaping wound in my leg I sustained while skiing.. or trying to skii since I didn't know how to actually... didn't have the heart to throw it out after I recovered at home, so I washed it several dozen times to get the bloodstains out... it's old, tattered and still has dark spots... but it saved my life and I love it and I'd love to see my Shep have something similar)...... well that was a weird tangent.

Exactly, so remember there will still always be Femshep, and she's a bigger icon than the other female squaddies. And another thing is that you can get Shep to object tho the idea of wearing the dress.

I think it's because the spelling and grammar on forums in general is just so poor that my brain tends to just auto correct most of what I read, so the OP's misspelling in the title flew over my head until about half a dozen people cracked a joke about it.

Yeeaah.. I'm slow.

LOL Miranda goes into space with her skin showing up and the OP is complaining about the shoes. I think we're far past realism.

Meh, I'm 1 face in a sea of millions in my city... only the truly paranoid think someone can likely track them down and stalk them with 1 blurry picture to go on. :P

Like you and everyone else, I'm just another irrelvant face in the world... though in hindsight I could have just cropped my head out and showed my lucky hoodie off.. but I'm lazy.

Another relatively high-profile person like yourself said something similiar...but I still wouldn't do it. Probably has more to do with looks/self esteem than anything, though...

...and I thought you were talking about your HAT, for some reason, don't ask me why. I was wondering how your hat could mop up blood...

And skiing, yay! I love skiing.

Hah, not even my hat actually, was my friend's.. asked her to lend it to me cus my hair was all frizzy and she wanted to take my pic.

But yeah, that hoodie is going with me to my grave (er, furnace or whatever you call the thing you use to cremate people)... doctor said I'd have died from bloodless if I hadn't stuffed it into the wound the way I had.

Hoodie for Shep though... that's gonna be awesome and I'm going to have a hard drive loaded with screenshots of her in it strolling about the Normandy, posing with her pals... good times. :D

I believe a dev said they had to somehow raise the female characters' height to make translating the animations from the male characters to them easier. High heels just so happened to fit the bill.
