Will the combat be controllable or will it be you having to wait for the result such as the combat in WoW?

I'm really confused as to what you mean.

What i mean is will you be able to control what your character does when he fights. If you have ever played oblivion you have to press trigger to attack and such. Im wondering if it will be this way.

NWN D&D type combat versus active Fallout/Oblivion/Borderlands combat.

So it's not active combat such as those games you listed?

No it will be more like KOTOR. You don't control the individual attacks of your character, but more like setting up a 'queue' of what you want you party to do in combat. You can also predetermine certain skills like having a Mage automatically heal people in party when their health gets to a certain percentage or

You can also predetermine certain skills like having a Mage automatically heal people in party when their health gets to a certain percentage or when a character in your party does one thing, another character will do something else that makes like a combo of sorts. An example of this is you have your hero do shield bash and knock an opponent onto the ground then Dog would automatically attack the downed opponent

No more than pressing a button everytime you want your character to move his/her right arm.

To each their own, really. I find this type almost MORE fun. It's less twitchy, and really makes you think strategy.

Hehe, well shooting bad guys to level up and collect better weapons such as that of Borderlands could be considered repetitive. All I can say is apples and oranges, take your pick or both! I personally am not familiar with this type of gameplay but rather of those other games that you listed. I am open minded and VERY excited to try this game out. All in all this should be a great game, and if you're like me and have never tried this type of combat out well there's a first time for everything...who knows you might even like it better than the others!

Yeah but if only you could actually choose which type of combat you wanted.. That would be a very awesome feature in the game. Cause mass effect (sorry about off topic) had the oblivion like combat.

Well, I think you can walk up and melee attack the enemy repeatedly without using talents or spells but that in itself would become repetitive. Dude, you should just try it out. Sure paying 60.00 bucks for a game you're not familiar with can be well a little nerve recking but just think if it exceeds you approval and may open the door to a completely way of thinking video games. Keep that mind OPEN!

Yes Maria?, care to comment?
Edit: Bah sorry Maria, I see now that you're merely answering his question Wow as in World of Warcraft.
My first impression on the statement was one of thinking that you were possibly looking down on those
who never played this type of game before. My sincerest appologies for any misconception.

Take a look at Demon Souls if you want to control the character's action directly. Prepare to hate the world though.

From what I've read, it sounds a lot like the combat in Guild Wars (am I the only one who plays that game?) where you click once to attack and your character keeps attacking until someone or something dies. I like it, it's easier on my poor fingers and forces me to actually think about what I'm doing.
And I thought it was fun. I fail at making builds that are actually useful, but I still think it's fun.

The combat (as far as the xbox goes) is pick an enemy and press a button to attack. Then you auto-attack until said enemy is dead. While auto-attacking you can use the hotkey buttons to add special attacks / spells / actions if desired.
Also, while auto attacking you can switch party members and repeat. Or give party members battle tactics to handle it themselves.

This is a strategy RPG, not an action focused RPG (like mass effect). Adding in that feature would serve no purpose because it does not fit into this type of game at all. If you haven't played a strategy RPG before (such as Baldur's Gate 1 or 2) then you should go into this game with an open mind. The fights require you to think about and rethink how you are using your party in each fight. It will be difficult and at times frustrating, but that is what makes it so satisfying when it all comes together (assuming you are playing on a decent level of difficulity).

That was a bad example. No it doesn't get repetitive.
