(Sorry if this is a question that's already been answered elsewhere.)

I've been experimenting...

It appears that putting images in my server's /override/ (like Amethyst Dragon's colored icons) does not appear on my players' screens.

It also appears that putting any 2DAs into my server's /override/ crashes my DM client.

Do any of you veterans have any information on this topic to share?  Like what can be gainfully placed in a server's override folder, or what I may be doing wrong with those 2DAs?

Thanks.

As far as I know, the only things that can really be put in a server's override folder is those files that are referenced only by the server (and not the player's or DM's game client).

Putting images in that folder will do nothing, since players need any "art" resources (icons, portraits, placeable or creature models, etc.) to actually be on their computer for them to see the images/models.

Many 2da files are used by both the server and the game clients, so those that are shared would need to be available on all the computers interacting with the game. Just placing them in the server's override folder doesn't do much (if any) good.

These are reasons I stick to using hak files for my server (to make sure both the server and the players have the same versions of the necessary files for my module while not interfering with any other server or module they may want to play), and leave other (non spell icon) overrides to my players to use on their own if they want.
