Nothing wrong with pigtails.

I have hair that is heavily, naturally, highlighted. It also contains, hidden under a mass of hair, a strip of pure, carrot top, ginger. I had my hair in pigtails once when i was 6, and it was revealed for the whole world to see.

I can safely say. In such a situation. Pigtails are wrong Q_Q I was bully fodder for the rest of my time in that school.

Also, more on topic: A lot of my FemSheps tend to end up looking like my sister. Olive skin. Dark hair/eyes. Our facial structures are very similar, so it might be i make them to look like me, but dislike the colourings available in the game to complete the look.

Fair enough.. though you're speaking of yourself when you were a 6 year old. I'm over 30, different circumstances I'd wager. I prefer to keep the pigtails as I like to live a low maintenance, simple & practical lifestyle... I'm not fond of worrying about looking prim and proper (blame my upbringing I guess) so it's usually a t-shirt, sweater / hoodie, track pants and sneakers for me... both in casual life and at work.

Pigtails suit my needs & lifestyle, they keep my hair neat and out of my way and I don't have to cut it short (I'm enough of a "tomboy" as is without having to crop my hair as short as a man's to further scream the fact home)... and honestly until this troll rolled on through I've never actually heard anyone mention that pigtails look childish. Meh, whatever.

My fault for letting myself fall for troll bait (which I knew it was.. but I guess I'm weak willed). Should know better at my age I guess.

What's wrong with having ginger hair??

It wasn't the ginger in general. I'm heavily ginger all over. It was the fact the stripe practically *glows* when it's revealed to sunlight and it is, quite literally, straight down the back of my head and completely out of place.

So whenever i have my hair in pigtails i have the normal hair on either side and a giant stripe of glowing, florescent, carrot top straight down the middle.

@Hath. I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with pigtails in general. Just in very specific and humiliating circumstances. ^_^

@ Hathur I actually thought that pigtails were higher maintenance then just a low ponytail? I love the way they look (and age be damned) but I get frustrated with trying to keep the part even, so whenever I manage not to get annoyed with my hair long enough to grow it out, I usually keep it in a single ponytail (or if its hot out, I just wrap it into a low bun, like Ashley's) takes 5 minutes or less, and keeps hair out of the way. but if you have a secret t fast and easy pigtails - please share?

No secret I'm afraid :P ... just erm... laziness... in that I don't take care of it as often as I should and it sometimes get unkempt... but nobody I know where I work cares how I look so sometimes I just walk around with messed up hair if I was too lazy to tend to it that day... or I just stuff a hat on my head to cover it up a little bit more, hehe (that's why I'm wearing a toque in the photo... was having a bad hair day when my friend wanted to take my photo.. otherwise it was kinda warm that day).

And you're right, compared to a ponytail it is definitely a lot higher maintenance... but I still find it easier to maintain than to let my hair down and worry about constant brushing and pushing hair out of my face every few seconds due to the slightest breeze or merely tilting my head 2 degrees... and I'm loathe to cut it (I have no idea why but I flinch at the mere thought of it). I prefer how it looks in pigtals over a simple ponytail, so I put up with it maintaining in that regard... though not as often as I should since it gets kinda ragged sometimes

Sarah Shepard: Based off of someone I know from high school and had a crush on for years. Redhead with blue eyes. Short hair.

Alexandra Shepard:  Another redhead. Had a crush on her in middle school.  Long red hair with blue eyes.

Laura Shepard:  A redhead gamer I met online. Not surprisingly, also has blue eyes.

A friend of mine on Facebook managed to create a Shepard that nearly look like me. I'll just show my Shepard right now:

I've never attempted to make a Sheperd look like me. I tend to prefer when they look normal.

I probably would fit a dwarf though, now that I think about it.. *Plots new DA:O playthrough*

The likenesses here though are all really good. Great job to all of you. Although, I do now wish that Femshep had an option for pigtails..

:P I get that sometimes, I've been told I look early & mid 20's. I think I got it from my father, he's 53 but looks like he's late 30's

For me it probably has a lot to do with being unmarried & no children.... that's a lot less stress to deal with and allegedly keeps you looking younger ;) ... Might be why my dad looks young too, he was a single parent raising me and never re-married later in life so he only had the stress of raising one child to cope with... no wife to "nag" him into old age.

Hmm, maybe I should count myself lucky then that I'm hopeless at finding relationships that don't crash and burn within a few weeks... I'll stay young and live longer to play more video games.

As Garrus would say: "Works for me!"

@ Lunatic. Yikes, that's right up there with FoxHound109's resemblance. Very surreal.

Impressive!

@FoxHound109  Was wondering if you or someone else would get around to pasting your head over Vegas.

I made a Shepard that looked similar to me once, but soon decided there was no way I wanted to look at my face for 50+ hours in a game and erased it after writing down the code in case I ever changed my mind. I made an Oblivion character based on me as well that I still play because there aren't shiny cinematics focused on the character as in Mass Effect.

I don't know if it counts but after watching LotR one day I found a Liz Tyler based Shepard on the code database website and tweaked it a little for a generic playthrough. (generic= I've never really developed her personality, just a pure paragon for first playthroughs so I can get a feel for the game)

I did the same thing in ME2. Used a code and just played from there. I just found it easier that way. I have 2 characters created: 1 is a paragon while the other not so nice :)

I entered this thread and found sheps that look like real people, how far we have come.
Thank you Bioware.
and I tried to make my MaleShep look like me and I don't know if I did it right, but then I tried to make my FemShep like Scarlet Johansen, the way she looked liked in Iron Man 2, didn't look right without the hairstyle from it.

Wish I bugged my friend about what he did, considering how the interface of the Character Creator sucks.

I'm hesitant to post my original photo, but here is a Shepard I made who looks exactly like me.
