I've never tried to make a me-shepard because making him look like me would result in making him act like me, and I'm pretty damn boring for a video game protagonist.

However with my new femshep I did try to create a specific face and ethnicity I had in mind, if that counts, and inexplicably pulled it off, despite using the ME1 editor. And she didn't even look asian or anything!
