Garrus isn't Ashley.  If Mass Effect wasn't enough of a hint, he has a problem with listening to authority figures and goes apesh*t when his attempts to save the world and fight bad guys get stonewalled by the bureaucrats.  He's also overly-passionate, broody, and impulsive as hell.  Talking paragon at him caused him to rethink some of his past behavior, but given his personality and history, what did you expect?

Omega was pretty much fated to happen.  However, your advice didn't go completely to waste--there is one moment that really sticks out during his loyalty mission, and it kind of slapped me in the face during my renegade run.

PARAGARRUS: I know you don't agree with it, but this is my choice.  I'll live with the consequences.
RENEGARRUS: I'm surprised you'd ask; you're the one that told me this was the best solution.

I wished there had been a bit more to it, but it's silly to think that Garrus would be a completely different person based on one person's advice.

She's actually a pretty fun character to use squadmember wise, dialogue wise she's a let down, but its a lot of fun to use dominate at just the right time and control harbinger, too many people in this thread talk about never recruiting and i think they should at least recruit her one even if its just so they can appreciate samara that much more, recruiting morinth is kinda like going on a rampage in a game like fallout or elder scrolls, you know you shouldn't but it sure is fun
