ARUGH I absolutely adore them all. But if I had to pick favorites it would be this.
Garrus- He's who I'd want to be/would most likely go gay for. He's independent, smart, tactical, a great sniper and leader. He's HILARIOUS in that dry, witty and slightly awkward charming sort of way. He's smooth on the battlefield and most of all a loyal friend. He's my ace in the whole.
Kasumi- You may not have been able to talk to her, but man she stole my heart. Her loyalty mission was top notch and it was nice to see such a beautiful garden world. Her lines were golden. Everything that came out of her mouth was pure delight no matter serious, funny, good or bad. She's such a bad ass infiltrator and has amazing stealth technique and I like having a tech oriented human around. I also like how she's friendly and normal despite having a thrilling occupation. Whenever she formed an opinion I found a hard time finding any kind of argument against it.
Miranda- She's smart, charismatic, confident and yet you can get her to warm up to you in a way that you feel like you're getting a ticket into disney world once you have her trust. I love the accent, the backstory, the smooth flawless attitude. Ms. Lawson will have her way, efficiently and humanely. She's a woman I want at my side (and depending on my playthrough my bed) who I know will command both my heart and my head to victory.
Mordin- He's a genius. And he's funny. What more can you ask? He has a heart of gold and only wants to do the right thing. He's wise in the fact that a doctor can not only help by healing, but by dispatching those who cause harm as well. I like how he's struggling to make amends, and his likable personality just makes me want to help him resolve his problems in peace. It's nice to see someone want to do good with all the brain they're given. Not to mention he's a fabulous singer.
Ashley- She's a little harsh and her views can be a bit radical, but Lieutenant Williams offers the swag of Miranda mixed with the sturdy battle-hardness of a true soldier. She's beautiful even with her hair up, and she has noble goals and a feisty will to achieve them. She's a woman who can make me both stare in awe and tremble in fear with the same gaze.
Legion- He's so different from the typical robot to me. His obsession with Shepard and his views on religion and so many other topics gives him a depth that I couldn't find with synthetic companions in other stories. His lack of humor is amazing and he takes the geth image up a notch with expressive face plates and sniper skills. I enjoy his dialogue as well. He makes me regret killing any geth that attack me.
Grunt- Grunt says little and speaks a lot. He's so totally different from Wrex. He's actually the opposite. He's young and naive while Wrex is hardened through experience. However it is the raw power and the quest to find himself through age and maturity that makes me like Grunt more. His look is unique, from his eye color to the fact that his juvenile plates seem a bit softer compared to other krogan. His fist bumps are indeed amusing and his respect for Shepard and views on his duty make sense for even one so young.
Samara- She's stoic, wise and her abilities are incredible. She is a master at both words and biotics and I find it amazing when she speaks due to the fact that she has been alive literally for almost a thousand years. Her Justicar code gives her such a unique depth, as I often wonder how someone can give away all their possessions (and from the Shadow Broker dossiers, I see she had quite a lot) and travel alone throughout the galaxy to fight crime. She is disciplined and skilled, a true showing of asari morals and determination.
Tali- She's sweet and adorably awkward. I think Kasumi could take a little more flushing out and Tali could stand to lose a bit, but regardless I see her as a young woman just trying to make her place in the world and help her people. She's intelligent but has her limitations, which makes her believable. She's young and much is new to her, but her obvious growth has been easily noticed from the first game to the second. I like how she learns what she is both good and bad at, and is determined to solve her problems one way or the other. Her romance is sweet and hits home to many, and under that unique suit I think beats the heart of a living and believable girl next planet.
Wrex- He's blunt, intelligent and oh so cocky and he knows it. But despite coming from a brutish race, Wrex is the symbol of what a good krogan can learn to be. He is wise and knows what is best for his people, capable of uniting an entire nation. His skills are formidable and he is an impressive fighter. Sure there may not be much on the surface, but there's a lot of substance. When he speaks, it may not be much, but you're going to want to hear it. Shepard.
Liara- Her character has taken a real 180 and it shows very well. Her position as Shadow Broker is interesting and she is learning to hold her own. Her biotic abilities have grown and become increasingly impressive, and her knowledge on the protheans is nothing to kick under the rug. She hurts like anyone else, and it is nice to see a bit of vulnerability with such a strong asari when it comes to romance. I still think she would have been better in ME3 as your replacement T.I.M and stayed at the Broker base in Hagalaz and fed us intel, freeing up the spot for another squad permie (if such a thing even exists) but regardless I'm excited to see where she leads us next.
Thane- His philosophies are unique and I enjoy his outlook on life. His mystic is matched by his charm and inner and outer manners, but his attitude is far from cold. I can actually see myself justifying some of his viewpoints and I believe that he is only trying to do good the best way he knows. And he suffers because of that. He is very useful as a crew member, I believe that he would pair up well with Kasumi for a stealth mission. Although he is the only one I can see during the suicide mission not having a clearly specific role...
Zaeed- Let's just say it. Zaeed is a badass. He's a knee-skinned, hard hitting sonofa**** and we all know it. You know it, I know it. What lacks in depth due to DLC status (which is not a character flaw, rather an unfortunate design decision) is made up for the fact that Zaeed is just freaking awesome. Shoot first, have a drink later, Zaeed is definitely a handy albeit less stable member of the group. But what craziness he brings seems to be slightly nullified by Jacob or Kaidan.
Jacob- He's a good man. I see him as just, stable and reliable more than boring. He has good morals, good virtues and a unique tie in to the game via Mass Effect Galaxy. I think his romance is sincere, loving and with a perfect hint of cheesy. He's a biotic brother who I need at my side and I am glad that I have a determined soldier in my squad for the upcoming battles. He does not get to have Kasumi or Miranda though. Okay... maybe on some playthroughs. SOME!
Jack- I believe Kasumi sums up Jack the best. "I know why Jack is the way she is. I don't like it, but i get it." Jack at first I love to hate. Then when I break her down she's someone I love to love. She's tortured, a badass, we get it. But it's that little girl vulnerability that scars her that really makes me go "wow... there are probably so many girls like her." But, you know... with less biotics and murderous intent.
Kaidan- Kaidan's a nice guy. I dig him, he's well-oiled and knowledgeable. He knows what a good person is and he's trying to bend his own definition to it. He's sturdy and a solid rock despite some childhood hardships. I don't dislike Kaidan at all, I adore the guy, but he is one of the last in the ME world. I am very excited to have him back in ME3 though. A game cannot go long without Mr. Alenko.
Morinth- I think she's awesome. She's interesting both due to her defect and personlity. She's alluring, psychotic, but sophisticated and carries herself with a strange form of dark grace. I love to hate the biatch, but she just has such a lack of content, even less than DLC's, which is a shame because she is such an interesting character. But unlike Jack, she is pure evil despite her ramblings. We just have to see what ME3 brings from Samara's mind twisting daughter.
