Garrus-LI, complements Vanguard skills, great sense of humor balanced by strong professional attitude. Thane-Warp bombs, demeanor contrasts with his profession in an intriguing manner, graceful temperament, complex personality.
Samara-admirable sense of dignity and honor, best bonus power Shepard could ask for, a fascinating and tragic history.
Kasumi-Charming attitude, laughably high damage level attack useful for distraction.
Fond of for Personality:
Mordin-not a lot of need for explanation, we all know why he's popular.
Jack-surprising amount of fun to be around when she mellows.
Tali- emotional depth given a lot of attention, makes up for her tendency towards long-winded explanations about the Flotilla.
Grunt-Easy to please, enjoys the simple things in life.
Too combat useful to ignore:
Zaeed-finally, someone brought an ammo power that's useful to a Vanguard!
Miranda-maybe too useful.
Legion-All of Tali's tech skills but with better defensive and offensive abilities.
Am indifferent to:
Jacob-not really his fault, more from Femshep's out of character greeting and a redundant build for Vanguard players
Ashley-great sense of humor, slightly antagonistic personality. Still not convinced that her dislike for aliens is not a tad unreasonable, but understandable.
Kaiden-had the best sense of reason in ME1, which may be why I'm angry and frustrated with his reaction on Horizon. Too many conflicting emotions towards him.
Developed dislike for
Liara-may change in ME3 if events do not favor her so much.
Morinth-several pages protesting her character on her own thread speaks for itself

1. Garrus - I like his style. Nice sense of humor and willing to do what has to be done
2. Liara - she went from little innocent sister, to bad ass bi***. cute character I started to impress me
3. Mordin - great character - enough said
Liked:
4. Kasumi - cute and funny character - doesn't try to get Shepard in her bed.
5. Kaidan - I like him because he is level headed - "we're all saints and sinners"
6. Legion - funny lines, never expected him to be that high up here, but there is something about him...
7. Thane - nice background and interesting character
8. Jack - crazy b*****, though a little too much cliche it fits - I love her dlc-outfit
9. Miranda - Cerberus, so she can't be a favorite, but after supported me while I blew up the collector base I started to trust her
10. Wrex - krogan, but predictible and a solid and smart leader for these war mongers.
OK:
11. Grunt - nothing special about the super krogan - too one sided
12. Jacob - too much of a cliche - except for that it would be a fine character
13. Zaeed - just a tough guy and good written at that, but the background is too swallow to put him higher
14. Ash - yeah, I get she isn't a racist or xenophobe, but I ain't a fan of poetry (it always sounded too much set up to give her more depth anyway) and even less of religion
Annoying:
15. Samara - I don't like her background, I don't like people following blindly such a strict code
16. Tali - she is a racist (against Geth) and just plain boring.
I don't care about:
17. Morinth - I never picked her up - I don't see any sense in getting a serial killer on my team (Jack is a criminal too, but she doesn't need to feed on people). Still I love the option of getting horny-Shepard killed by her

2.Liara I just like the "young" to the world so I'm gonna go explore and learn type aspect. I also felt lotsb direction is very intriguing.
3. Mordin he makes me laugh
4.Thane I really like any character in any setting that knows death is coming and accepts it.
5.Morinth I like her didn't go to indepth with her but I generally like any "bad" toon because to me they at least have "real" opinions to me as far as they relate to a real life scenario,
6. Jack I like how she is almost scitszo in the aggresion vs vulnerable concept.
7. Garrus I like him a lot because he seems to have a personality type that was common when I was in the military.
8. Legion liked how he himself gave a new perspective on my views of the geth.
9. Kasumi she is mysterious but intriguing.
10. Zaeed I greatly respect his outlook on life.
11. Tali she is interesting but a tad too "whiny" imho.
12. Miranda if it was on looks she would be a lot higher but she didn't click to me.
13. Grunt I like his aggresiveness but just seemed to sterotypical in my mind of a lets put 5minutes of thought in this toon so the players can have a krogan.
14.Kaidan I like how he has been threw alot but he gets points (more than a few) deducted for being far to whiny.
15. Ash I really just don't like her as a whole as a character.
16.Samara she just seemed too hypocritical to me.
17. Jacob 1/2 kaidan via whining plus 1/2 just really annoying I guarantee you he is one of two people I won't be porting over into me3(ash being the other) in my main playthrew.

1. Liara- Kinda hard to argue against that. Perhaps the second-most important character in the story, next to Shep
2. Garrus- Shep's bro 'til the very end. Good evolution from Shep's protege in ME1 to all-out Space Batman in ME2.
3. Tali- Shep's bra 'til the very end. Good evolution from fledgling youth in ME1 to Quarian-patriot cute awkward geek in ME2.
4. Mordin- Yoda's dialogue with Shatner's pacing...on speed. Most diversified character in ME. What's not to like?
5. Wrex- Badass who's easily the best character in ME1. Would've been higher if his spot in ME3 on Shep's crew was solidified.
6. Miranda- Shepard's equal in competence? Easily has the best written dialogue for a ME character.
7. Ash- One of the few characters who grows, with a nice character arc to boot! Easily the 2nd best character in ME1.
8. Legion- Not too far from the Robot Character TV trope, but still an interesting twist to a once-considered an enemy race.
9. Jack- Perhaps the most interesting past of any character. One of the sweetest romances.
10. Kasumi- One of the best personal missions. Shame she didn't have a dialogue wheel.
11. Grunt- Should've played up the "I KILL THINGS! But I'm a little child on the inside, and Shepard's my dad/mom" thing
12. Morinth- The only truly "evil" character you can get. Not enough development time.
13. Thane- Interesting, but a lot of the intrigue is thanks to his race, not his character.
14. Samara- THERE IS ONLY THE CODE for her. Shouldn't take her romance to flesh her character out.
15. Zaeed- BIG GODDAMN HEROES. Wish he got a dialogue wheel.
16. Kaidan- Boring Male LI #1. Least he's okay with opening up to you.
17. Jacob- Boring Male LI #2. Are you gonna talk to me about ANYTHING about you?

Personally, I can take someone on missions cuz I think they are a good character build, but not really like them as a character. For instance, I find soldiers really dull, but Ashley was a courageous character build, acknowledging religiosity, and it is not something you'd first expect. Made her interesting.
Liara- was very interesting to see the drastic but believable character changes
Garrus- good character and conversations
Miranda- sorta like Liara, in that is tough at first, and later you find the emotional side
Wrex- of the Krogan, he was more interesting and more dimensional.
Zaeed- nice they found a way to get a "bad guy" and that rougher perspective into the party
Jack- if you played to keep her all rough, mean and emotionally closed, there probably won't be much potential for cool interactions other than trying to save yourself from a spaz. but if you were trying to heal her spirit and heart, it will be very interesting to see how that progresses and is dealt with in ME3
Kasumi- yay for another non-caucasian!! With all the doom, gloom and drama around all the characters, I find her light and energetic ways refreshing
Tali- sometimes she annoys me and I wish I could tell her to whine a little less, but still a very deep character!
Kaiden- maybe a bit too much like what's-his-face from KOTOR, but had a good backstory.
Mordin- still in the like section of my list. his puzzlements over the human behaviours were entertaining, and perhaps thought provoking in a way!
Grunt- while sorta single-minded for a good reason, it was nice to have an ogre that didn't have layers and layers of onion
Guess I am into the 'meh' section
Jacob- just seems your very standard dude
Legion- nothing bad, just no HK-47
Samantha- a little too serene. but at least you didn't get a lecture every time you did something your way... that was a good choice!
Morinth- there just wasn't a lot there... I didn't really a lot of story to support taking her unless you just wanted to try it both ways, or Samantha really annoyed you
Thane- hearing the life story told in a weird way didn't do it for me, though intellectually I recognize that it was a very unique method.
so no characters I disliked. I prefer to find good in things as much as I can at best. in some of the other forums, just filled with random negativity- not sure how that makes one happy.
was very cool to read so many lists, cool to see such a variety!

Zaeed - I can associate a lot out-of-game with Zaeed a lot. Reminds me of my 'glory days' in the army, hanging out with some of the best friends I ever made in the service. He's also got a lot of enjoyable dialogue options, conversations, and he's generally really useful in combat.
Liara - Love interest. She's fairly useful in combat, but at the same time, she has this charm about her that I feel is compelling. Choosing between her and Tali took quite a long moment for me.
Tali - Not really that impressive during combat, but she has a lot of interesting dialogue options, and she has this aura of just 'likeability' for me. It's not anything I can describe really well. Once again, she was a tough choice for romancing between her and Liara.
Wrex - There's really no need to vocalize why he's awesome.
Garrus - Expert sniper and tech expert. I enjoyed being able to influence his decisions in the first and second games, as well as his general friendship with Shepard. Once again, he's someone I can associate with from an out-of-game perspective.
Thane - At first, I wasn't sure I really liked him, but after going through his dialogue options and his loyalty mission, I realized he was just like any father in that situation: He was just trying to do the best he could for his son before he left the galaxy.
Samara - Since I'm basically a DND paladin in real life, I could associate very well with her, but I really liked the fact that she could be lawful good without being lawful stupid.
Neutral:
Grunt - A reminder that I missed Wrex.
Kasumi - Interesting dialogue, but fairly worthless in combat against anything tougher than a random merc.
Legion - Really good on the battlefield, but I had trouble really relating with him or being interested in him and his race of machines. I deal with computers as a profession, I don't need to be reminded about how they think.
Jacob - Once again, he reminds me of one of my good friends from military service, but his dialogue options weren't great in the game, nor was he really of any use to me on the battlefield.
Mordin - Absolutely hilarious. Great comedy relief at times, awesome moral decisions at other times, but a warrior he was not, and I found his technical talk to be something akin to a bad Star Trek script.
Kaiden - It's not that he's two-dimensional, but I kept thinking I was supposed to be talking to Carth Onasi rather than Kaiden Alenko. He is the Virmire survivor, and probably more interesting than Ashley was, though that is marginal.
Ashley - Once again, someone I could associate with from my days in the service, but at the same time, she seemed really...bland, I guess is the word.
Disliked:
Morinth - Psychopath. I wanted to shoot her the first time I laid eyes on her.
Miranda - I absolutely could not stand her.
Jack - A serious attitude problem, one I wish I had the chance of correcting.

(True third would be Kasumi) I love her lines, her attitude, and her abilities.
3 Liara (Romance) - Not sure what, in particular, I like about her. I just kinda always have enjoyed her character.
4 Legion - I love Legion. I'm not usually a fan of robots but he's such a b.a.m.f
5 Morinth - I love a dark, evil, sexy temptress who hunts sentient creatures as her prey.
6 Wrex - Total b.a.m.f 'nuff said.
7 Jack - I love psychos; especially when they're women.
8 Thane - Love his attitude towards things.
9 Garrus - One of the old school guys. Gotta show him some love.
10 Grunt - I like him mainly because he's a Krogan that I totally get to subjugate.
11 Samara - I've never been one to care much about Paragon esque people who go around righting wrongs and what have you; but of the remaining characters, I like her most.
12 Ashley - Donno. Of the remaining characters I like her new look more than anything of the last few characters.
13 Miranda - Donno. Never cared for her much.
(True 14 would be Zaeed. I've never liked anything about him besides his accent)
14 Kaidan - Hated him, and allowed him to die in every single playthrough besides one.

2) Liara. Liked the whole naive but capable scientist thing in ME1, but felt the romance was a bit too sudden, although still vastly better than the alternatives for me. Felt her growth through to LotSB was extremely well done and convincing given all the balderdash she went through, and the entire romance plot through the dlc was brilliant. Right now I'm still leaning more towards Tali as a li for 3, but I'm really hoping for the option of both being possible, even if I'm sure it'll never happen.
3) Garrus. Awesomely sarcastic, very deep character that goes from being Shepards protege to near equal across the two games. Really love the sense of friendship you can cultivate with him.
4) Grunt. Basically Shepards massive violent child, really enjoy his growth through the game, and the admiration he develops for Shepard as they interact wih him.
5) Mordin. Simply a delight to interact with, really wish you could get more imput from him on pretty much everything in the game.
6) Wrex. Very entertaining in 1, great to see him have actually pulled himself out of his rut and done something about his people and not just carried on moaning about them. His fiemy greeting to Shep in 2'was heartwarming as well.
7) Jack. Very well done dark, tragic character. Her LM is one of the best and most emotional in the game, and her character grows very nicely if you're willing to keep trying with her.
8) Samara. A nice change from the rest of the squad thanks to her more reserved and aloof attitude, but still very open and earnest in her dealings with Shepard. I very much appreciate her level of dedication to a higher cause and protecting the weak, even if I find the Justicar code far too inflexible.
9) Kasumi. Very much appreciate her snark and enthusiasm, wish she had more real dialogue. Slightly edges out Thane due to the depth and sorrow of her LM.
10) Thane. Great character that really could have done with more time to get through his backstory and outlook, as it is I always feel it's a bit too rushed and heavy. Still, a great character.
11) Kaiden. Would be higher, infact he'd be third if this were just ME1, but he was too much of an Ash clone on Horizon. Really hope he's back to normal in 3
12) Legion. Awesome character who sadly was introduced too late In the game for me to put higher. Adds a massive amount of information on the Geth and redeems them from two dimensional villain status. Hope he gets a much bigger role in 3.
13) Zaeed. The guys a massive arse, but an endearing one. Very funny. Loved having the opportunity to heroically punch him in the face.
14) Mirander. A very interesting and complex character. Hated her at first, but that quickly became sympathy. I feel very sorry for how everyone has used her throughout her life, and I hope her time with Shepard will give her enough self belief to let her become her own woman.
15) Morinth. A horrible, literal monster, but an interesting one. Tragic back story, but my sympathy for her ends where she chooses to murder for orgasms. Very satisfying when Samara pops her head.
16) Jacob. The first character I don't like. He's either wilfully ignorant of what cerberus are, or lying about how much he knows and cares about their methods. He certainly doesn't care about their contemptible goals. Rude, shallow and boring. I would actually not care in the slightest if he wasn't in 3.
17) Ashley. Pretty much everything she says, believes and values rub me up the wrong way. She's far too inexperienced for her speciesist, nationalistic views to be anything but blindly parroting other peoples opinions, she's extremely prejudice and self centred. If she really cared about the alliance she should have just changed her surname and let herself be judged on her own merits like Kahlee Sanders did, instead of stubbornly trying to show how she's better by passive aggressively letting her grandfathers actions dictate how she's treated so she can act like a martyr, then whine about it. Also the bloody poetry. Hate her. Virmired her in all but one play through only because I'm hoping you get the option of punching her in the face and telling her to get lost, otherwise I'll just delete the save.

Garrus
Mordin (though I don't take him off the ship too much - I just like talking to him)
Kaidan
Wrex
(Kasumi - she really grew on me)
Legion (really should be higher but we don't get enough of him in ME2 to really get to know him. I am so looking forward to seeing how he develops in ME3)
Tali
Middle line - I still like them just not as much
Samara
Thane
Liara
Grunt
Jack
Bottom Line - not bothered really
Ashley (poor Ash - the reason she's here, I suspect is becasue she died every time on Virmire. I might have liked her better had she stuck around)
Morinth
Jacob
Miranda
(Zaeed - I know some think he's a tough-talking nut job and therefore ace, to me he's just boring. Heard that schtick so many times.)

2. Grunt - Love his unique dialogue and combat skills
3. Liara - Favorite LI and love slappin' asses with her singularity
4. Garrus - Cool character, but not enough dialogue and fragile in combat
5. Wrex - Mentor and close friend to my Shepard, and did i mention he's a KROGAN?
6. Kasumi - Awesome in combat and pretty cool dialogue as well
7. Miranda - DAT...nevermind..
8. Mordin - Some of the best dialogue in either games
9. Zaeed - Awesome in combat and a cool character
10. Tali - Had one of my favorite loyalty missions, and just has an awesome story.
11. Samara - I love her character, but almost never use her because besides Reave, shes not great in combat.
12. Ashley - Her best dialogue was only available if she was your LI, and i had no use for her since i was a soldier/infiltraitor.
13. Jack - Personalty is too cold for my taste, but she has an awesome romance plot. Not that it mattered to me. Also was only useful for fighting husks.
14. Jacob - I never talk to him as femshep. Ekch...
15. Thane - I found listening to his his dialogue to be a chore. Was great for combat, but he has no interesting dialogue, so i never brought him with me anyways.
