Tali's whole allure is her anonymity. Why do fans want to take that away.
I JUST DONT GET IT.
it's like Gatsu from berserk using a regular size sword. HIS WHOLE icon is the bigass sword and his rage. why do you tamper, BSN? why?
Because they are sexually attracted to pixels.

Because that would just be mean.

Agreed, but the same goes for many other aspects of the series: the Reapers' motives being "beyond" our comprehension, Thane entire character revolving about him dying...Prince Zeel wrote...

The thing is, I can understand the fans not understanding what makes a good character great, but for some reason it seems like the writers themselves don't really understand it either, despite being (partially) responsible for said characters.

I diagree. Her allure is her personality. Finding her fascinating only because of her helmet is superficial. Bioware should've either never had her take off her mask in that scene to start with or shown her face in ME2. IGN is correct in that the way that Bioware did it was a major disconnect.Prince Zeel wrote...

Um, you don't. But believe it or not sometimes it's nice to hear other people's opinions, even if you don't agree with them, so you avoid being narrow-minded and self-centered.

I feel that Bioware would be making a mistake and taking the easy way out if they don't.

How about giving the players a choice to see her face. It could even be an interupt in a situation like IGN described. This way, both groups would be happy.

This has probably been suggested before, but.....

but even with that some will not be happy - I would be cool with a choice.

For many players, it creates a problem for the game's narrative.
What?
Shepard is a catalyst for players to enter the story.
Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong! Shepard IS a character IN Mass Effect. Shepard IS NOT the player. There are simply too many instances where Shepard reacts and interacts separate from player control. In ME1, it went so far as Shepard having his own personal history -- moments of emotional release, religion [within player control to a degree], and personality.
Shepard is every bit as separate from the player as Geralt or Jensen is to their players. Choosing to make Shepard look like you doesn't make that any more valid.

I like this human! He understands!
I am not Shepard, and Shepard is not me. I don't know if anyone else shares the same viewpoint as me, but I see myself as a director/scriptwriter (with a limited degree of control) when I play Mass Effect games, not as Shepard.

Yep. We are the author, and Shepard is our character.
J.K. Rowling may have written Harry Potter, his traits, his personal thoughts, his actions, etc -- but she is not Harry. Injecting yourself into a character 100% only works in one perspective: the first person perspective.
