I am going to get a new gaming laptop to play TOR in a month or two and REALLY want to play ME1 and ME2 on it as well.  But I've run into some reports that ME1 often doesn't run on the Windows 7 (64 bit version particularly).

Is this true?  Is this a common problem?

ME1 is a pain in the ass to get running on any newer system. I had trouble getting it to work on my last system and have spent the last two days trying to get it past the opening scene and into the actual game.

People are helpful here, but it seems like you have to really screw with your newer comp to get it up and running besides updating drivers and changing configurations.

I installed a bit ago, on a Win7 64 bit computer without a hitch. The only thing to remember is when the popup comes on and says it didn't install correctly, hit that it did ok, and ignore it. I don't know what other people have issues with, but it isn't a problem inherent to the op system.

Actually I have done it on two computers, last one was yesterday for my son's computer, but it was a 32 bit system.

Yeah, never had a problem with it on Win7 either. And I've had it on both 64 and 32-bit systems.

Just remember to install with admin rights, install the 1.02 patch, and run in XP compatibility mode, and you should be set.
