Just using renegade or paragon dialogs I can get three (each) charm or intimidate points but I seem to have hit a ceiling no matter what else I do - is there a limit?  Dialog option at that level are sorely limited but I don't want to  use level points on charm/intimidate unless absolutely necessary

You can get four points in each skill per playthrough. That's three playthroughs for all 12 points.

Thanks - seems to take a lot to get that fourth point - I think I read 75% - is that about right?

Yep, its 75%.

Thanks again - I am going to see if its possible to reach that doing a minimalist runthrough - kinda doubt it...three times through is a bit much (even for an OCD type like me who's working up yet another shep for ME2 and won't use Gibbed except for name changes and face tweaks - yet...)

Use the console? Much easier, and it's just tiresome to run through three times in a row.
