So, everyone wants to kill Liara because she is inmortal in both games?

Maybe they just didn't like Shepard and want a new character for ME2.

I just don't like her much, I don't want to kill anyone but I'd certainly kill her off instead of Ash (sometimes) if given the choice.  In ME1 I would happily rotate Virmire death between Liara, Ashley and Tali.

Liara. I actually like her as a character, just not as much as the rest.

If we extended the criteria to crewmates I'd probably leave Joker.

Joker....:crying:
Naw, save that for ME2, I'd like to collect his dog tags at the NCS

No I perfectly undestand that. It's just that leaving Liara with the nuke is basically the same as leaving Shepard with the nuke, I can't get those two appart in my mind. =)

Joker, again wouldn't be able to defend the nuke for as long as needed and Reapers would win in ME1.

I'm leaving Pressly. Hell he's just gonna die like a b*tch when the collectors destroy the Normandy..why not let him do it. I like my squad. haha

If i have to choose from any squad mate it's still kaidan. The aliens are all cooler than those two humans

I have preference for biotics and tech powers. Ashley is lacking in both. She is racist on a team that has aliens. The only reason I have her in my party is because of an achievement for completing most of the game with her.

Uldina is also a good candidate. But not Al Jilani. Need someone to punch. If she's nuked, I'll no longer have that satisfaction.

Joker? lol

Your journey would end on Ilos. =)

Well if Joker died I'm sure one of the other pilots on the Normandy could take over, whoever they are.

Yes but I don't think that they would be able to pull that move on Ilos, that even the best pilot thought twice about.

Yeah, I bet Pressley could have done the business. Would probably have evacuated the Normandy when asked as well, meaning Shepard would have survived the collector attack..

Well in ME1 the Virmire sacrifice is out of my favourite two characters, I would love to have had the option to have them both stay alive. But tbh, the fact it was out of them gave the scene a bigger impact for me, it really was a choice I didn't want to make, a choice that made me feel even more connected to my Shepard ''there is no right choice for a thing like that, I just hope I never have to go through it again''

While Liara isn't the one I'd nuke (It's still Ashley, even given more choices), I'd like to mention that Liara's not that special. Someone else will have been hired in her place by the Illusive Man to retrieve Shepard's body- and whomever that is I feel would do just as well in the same cirumstances.

The Illusive Man is the one that gave the order to Miranda to "see to it that we DON'T lose him." So I doubt any one of the 6 squadmates was essential to his/her resurrection going into ME2. You could substitute Garrus, Tali, Wrex- perhaps I'd be so bold as to say even Kaiden and Ashely despite it being Cerberus. They would all go as far as they could if they were told Shepard could be brought back if his body was recovered, Liara's just the one that recieved those honors in the canon storyline. In an alternate universe where she died, I don't think the entire house of cards would just fall down like that.

I have no idea tbh. So used to picking Kaidan by now :P
Question:

On Virmire, if you choose to go back and save whoever's guarding the bomb, how to the Salarians survive? I mean, they're stuck with the crew member you sacrifice. Makes no sense to me as to how THEY escape the geth and not Ash/Kaidan. Unless I've missed something.

That's one part of it. But who would help Shepard to find Ilium?

Well, be find Ilium you mean... find the people on Ilium that he's recruiting? I think that's what you meant by that sentence. They'd probably find a different information broker who was currently influential on Ilium instead of Liara. Cerberus would probably have to pay them for the information on the characters instead of recieving the information from a friend for free.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is where things get really muddled, because going into ME3 you might not have the SB's resources on your side... unless Theron takes his place instead? Causality and split time-lines are confusing!

F*ck the plot, nuke Liara, have Ash and Garrus team up to find Shepad's body.

Okay, seriously, though, if I had complete freedom to pick, it'd wind up being either Ash or Kaidan again. Wrex would be the one who could handle it the best, I think, and the old, wise warrior dying for the cause is always nice. However, after seeing all the good he does in ME2, I'm glad he wasn't an option. And I wouldn't really leave Garrus, Tali, or Liara because they all feel really young and still have too much of their lives left to live, regardless of how much I like them.

Ashley and Kaidan are soldiers. They're strong, they're loyal, and they're willing to die. Neither of them really deserve it, but I feel they are best fitted for that role in the story.

Although, if I had to do it only once, it'd be Kaidan. He's a nice guy and all, but I like Ash better, and I wouldn't want to deprive her siblings of their big sister.

That was my rationale at first too, before I fleshed it out a bit.

Eh, my rationale's a bit fuzzy because I have the luxury of multiple playthroughs.

Yes Ilium too, you bring up more points yourself. =)

No I'm actually talking about Ilos, the planet that Saren went, you needed to join minds with Liara to sort it out about were to go after Virmire.

A luxury I deny myself, unless I change my mind and decide I want to play a different class. But that seems unlikely, because I like Vanguard.
