I hate Virmire....

I think Ash/Kai go well with each other.. hence why Bioware *knew* this and made Virmire happen

I'd pay for DLC to change that.....

That would be one HUGE DLC. Meeting both on Horizon would be fun though.

On Virmire, if you choose to go back and save whoever's guarding the bomb, how to the Salarians survive? I mean, they're stuck with the crew member you sacrifice. Makes no sense to me as to how THEY escape the geth and not Ash/Kaidan. Unless I've missed something.

they were never with Ash/Kaidan to begin with.  remember - they were split into 3 teams with VS leading one of them, remember?  the survivors of the other 2 teams made it to the meeting point, provided you assisted them along the way.  the lone salarian you see at AA tower is what's left from VS's distraction team.  if you chose to go to the bomb, you can make it in time to see a lone marine that's left of the contigent guarding the bomb.


that said - if it were up to me, no one would be left on Virmire.  Shepard has 2 full squads fer cripes sakes, one of those could be sent back to protect the bomb instead of chilling on the Normandy  (or assist at the AA tower)

but.. if I have no choice and honestly this is a tough one, but I'd have to pick Tali.  I like her character but I like others more.

because same voice actor = identical personality, dontcha know?  even though they have different backstory, different attitude, completely different outlooks and they don't evenuse the same inflections.  but same voice actor?  BEGONE DEMON CLONE! >_>

Virmire falls down to which Shepard i'm playing. Kale Shepard wouldn't have left anyone behind. She'd have gone down in a blaze of glory just attempting to save that last straggler. Whereas Rebecca would've dropped off Tali and Liara and left them to burn with Kaidan AND Ash.

My personal opinion? Kaidan to the bomb. Ash with the Salarians. Go back to make sure the bomb goes KABOOM.

While Liara isn't the one I'd nuke (It's still Ashley, even given more choices), I'd like to mention that Liara's not that special. Someone else will have been hired in her place by the Illusive Man to retrieve Shepard's body- and whomever that is I feel would do just as well in the same cirumstances.

The Illusive Man is the one that gave the order to Miranda to "see to it that we DON'T lose him." So I doubt any one of the 6 squadmates was essential to his/her resurrection going into ME2. You could substitute Garrus, Tali, Wrex- perhaps I'd be so bold as to say even Kaiden and Ashely despite it being Cerberus. They would all go as far as they could if they were told Shepard could be brought back if his body was recovered, Liara's just the one that recieved those honors in the canon storyline. In an alternate universe where she died, I don't think the entire house of cards would just fall down like that.

Very good points here, aside from the Illos problem....Liara has been made way too important in the ME games.....If Liara wasn't so plotted in, I would be tossing up between Liara and Ashley.

Carth onasi,Kaidan alenko oh and Ashley williams are the video game token good looking characters with the charm and the jokes and the im so tough. Any random red shirth can do kaidan and ashleys job but because every game needs is token good looking characters there they are.

The question is... if I knew that I'll get squadmate killed there or not?

Because in imaginary situation where I can assign any squadmate on any job and be unspoiled (or not metagaming) I'd pick Tali for bomb site (tech expert to bomb - looks logical) and Wrex to salarians (send tank to group which will be under heavy fire - logical as well). Then would save Wrex, which leaves Tali as Virmire Victim.

If I could leave anyone I'd gladly leave Liara - I strongly doubt she's the only prothean expert in galaxy, and the fact that she might be recruited before Feros and Virmire and still forget to mention that there is very important planet connected with protheans called Ilos doesn't add much points to her expertise.

Engineer Adams and those Marines who do nothing but stand by the doors and salute, lazy jerks. Seriously, if I'm jury rigging a drive core to explode, I'm gonna assign an Engineer to do it, and give him a marine detail for cover. Also, I always go for the tower, because 1). The Normandy is already en route for the pick up, and ordering them to turn around increases the risk of everyone dying, plus the STG team is at the tower, so it because a numbers game.

If it has to be one of the ground team, Kaidan's my first pick. He has the tech skills to activate the nuke, as Ashely points out, and I like sending Ashley with the STG team, because she's already proved she's a survivor on Eden Prime, which makes my Shepards believe it's more likely that she'll make it through with Kaidan, and it gives her a chance to work with more Aliens, which broadens her Horizons, gives her a chance for professional growth.

That said, I'm *finally* doing a femShep play through where she romances Kaidan, so I'm gonna save him this time, assuming I can stand finishing it. I always feel awful when my Sheps shoot Liara down. She always looks so hurt.
